Описание: Digital Information Design (DID) is primarily a business information management (BIM) model. As with any model it is used to help you to describe problems and test potential solutions. DID is not like any other method or framework model; it is independent of any other existing model or framework and does not claim to manage the entirety of the design of business information services. DID identifies useful and widely used best practices that are designed specifically for use in any phase of business information service development from idea, conception, specification, design, test, handover, service management and operation, or managing architectural issues or hardware and software installation. Primarily, DID was developed to manage the quality of information, and how to put it to good use. The DID model has been designed for you to identify what you need and when you need it when designing business information services and as a broad guide, identifies key points in existing frameworks that are particularly useful. The model is wholly independent of all other frameworks (including BiSL and BiSL Next in which the basic design is rooted). You can choose and use whatever you wish, the model will help you to assess the validity of your choice(s) and identify strengths and weaknesses in your approach. The DID model focuses on the common languages to describe key elements of design (need and value, mission and capability), key business information perspectives (business, information/data, services and technology) and the high-level domains (governance, strategy, improvement and operation) that must be managed in order to effectively run any business.DID helps you to identify only what you need to ensure that business information design reflects what is needed by your enterprise. The model can be used entirely separately from the framework level guidance discussed and it can be used at any level in the organization. The essentials of DID are explained in two books: this book, Foundation and the Practitioner book that will be published later.

Описание: This book introduces a new theory on the substantial comorbidity that exists between many illnesses and disorders and concurrent symptoms such as pain, impaired sleep and fatigue. The specific illnesses and disorders discussed include obesity, diabetes mellitus type-II, medical illnesses including cardiovascular disease and sleep-disordered breathing, insomnia, disordered eating such as binge-eating disorder and night-eating syndrome, affective distress (anxiety and depression), and comorbidities that are linked to eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. The book posits that the comorbidities are the result of a complex bio-psycho-behavioral mechanism that includes circadian rhythm dysfunction. It examines the statistical and methodological (e.g. measurement) problems that can complicate the understanding of comorbidity and explores a broad range of novel, existing, and repurposed therapy approaches that could have utility in treating comorbid disorders. This book will be of great value to academics as well as practitioners working in the field of psychiatry, health psychology and medicine more broadly.

Описание: This book explains in detail the diagnosis, management, and treatment of comorbid disorders in patients with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Important insights are provided into the nature of the symptoms of psychiatric comorbidities in these patients, and particularly children and adolescents, with a view to assisting clinicians in reaching a correct diagnosis that will permit the implementation of appropriate treatment strategies, whether psychological or pharmacological. The full range of potential comorbidities is considered, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, eating disorders, disruptive behavioral disorders, Tourette’s disorder, and substance-related disorders. In each case guidance is provided on how to avoid incorrectly attributing symptoms to ASD and on treatment options. Psychiatric Comorbidities in Autism Spectrum Disorders will be of value to all practitioners who are confronted by patients with these complex co-occurring conditions.

Описание: Schizophrenia is the mental disorder caused by environmental and genetic factors. A schizophrenic person shows abnormal behavior and finds it difficult to conform to social norms. Symptoms include confused thinking, hallucinations, thought disorders, delusions and lack of motivation. Antipsychotics, coordinated special care and psychosocial treatments are some of the curative measures. This book discusses the fundamental as well as modern approaches towards schizophrenia. It collates contributions made by international experts which explore innovative aspects revolving around causes, diagnosis and treatment of this disorder. This book strives to provide a fair idea about this discipline and to help develop a better understanding of the latest advances within this field. Students, researchers, psychiatrists, experts and all associated with this area of study will benefit alike from this book.
Описание: Although there are many books that consider aspects of schizophrenia such as research or clinical care, now there is a single resource that puts the many
facets of this widely misunderstood disorder in perspective. The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Schizophrenia offers broad coverage that encompasses the current state
of knowledge the cause, nature, and treatment of schizophrenia. Experts in a wide range of disciplines from North America and Europe have contributed chapters that address the
complexity of schizophrenia in a comprehensive volume on this singularly perplexing mental illness.
No disorder is more challenging to psychiatrists and mental health care
providers than schizophrenia, a condition that robs people of their personality and intellect and leaves them permanently disabled. This
ook leads readers through the maze of questions surrounding the disorder, from historical overview and epidemiology to consideration of comorbid conditions. It covers both genetic
and environmental causes, describes all of the leading theories of schizophreniaAneurodevelopmental, neurochemical, phospholipid, and neuroprogressiveAand explores the
involvement of abnormal brain circuitry and the results of the latest neuroimaging studies.
For practicing clinicians, the topics covered represent the most essential, timely, and
informative insights for treating this most prototypic of mental illnesses: -Approaching cognitive impairment as a potential psychopharmacological target for treatment, plus treatment
strategies for improving functioning in individuals with social or vocational impairment. -An overview of selected antipsychotic drugsAincluding common side effectsAas well as
antianxiety/hypnotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and dopamine agonists. -A review of current proven psychosocial interventions designed to augment and complement drug
therapy, highlighting the trend toward optimizing patient preference in the choice of treatment modality.
-Keys to early identification of individuals vulnerable to psychoses and
to assessing the potential for intervention with the promise of treatment earlier in life. -Optimal treatment approaches for first episodesAincluding individual, group, and family
therapiesAto increase the likelihood of full recovery. -Special considerations for treatment of chronic schizophrenia, addressing frequently asked questions faced by psychiatrists in their
daily encounters with patients.
While its causes and cure remain elusive, schizophrenia can be better understood with the help of the authoritative knowledge collected in
these pages. Squarely confronting a disease that has long afflicted and baffled human society, this textbook will serve as a dependable source of knowledge for a generation of
students, scientists, and clinicians to come.
