A chapter on immunohistochemistry has been added which includes refined detection methods, e.g., with p16 for the early differential diagnosis of premalignant lesions. The latest advances in molecular biological research, with predictive subdivision of neoplasias, facilitate the choice of the proper therapy. All chapters - supported by over 20 new microphotographs - have been revised to include advances in the interpretation and management of cervical disease. The tumor nomenclature is adapted to the new WHO classification; the ICD-O code has been added. The reference list is updated with relevant publications.
