Описание: Vascular diseases of the retina are a major cause of blindness among all age groups. Edited and written by internationally well-known experts, this state-of-the-art comprehensive overview of basic and clinical science will enhance the understanding of retinal vascular disease and help in the evaluation of current and future treatment approaches for the clinician. The well-structured and highly illustrated text is divided into the following three main sections: Pathogenesis of retinal vascular disease General concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal vascular disease Pathology, clinical course and treatment of retinal vascular disease Reader-friendly through: Step-by-step explanation of all treatment procedures Richly illustrated by clinical image series including illustrated single case follow-up This unique textbook-atlas also includes topics which are not currently found in other retinal disease textbooks, such as case reports and clinical follow-ups. General ophthalmologists, retina specialists as well as ophthalmologists in training will find this book highly stimulating and useful for their daily practice.

Описание: This atlas extensively covers numerous aspects of retinal vascular disease, e.g. The series offers a global perspective on vitreoretinal diseases, covering imaging basics, retinal vascular disease, ocular inflammatory disease, retinal degeneration, surgical retina, macular disorders, ocular oncology, pediatric retina and trauma.
Описание: Dr. Kreissig has spent a lifetime refining and teaching the minimalized approach to repairing retinal detachments. In this book, you will get the benefit of her experience -- in an easily accessible, pocket-sized handbook that fits into your lab coat and is also ideal for bedside or office consultation. The book is the first hands-on guide to the art of buckling, i.e., applying a minimum of buckling without vitrectomy for retinal reattachment. The text is excellently illustrated and written in a dialogue style. From completing the preoperative exam to making the diagnosis and choosing the surgical technique, this book provides the facts and guidelines to successfully perform minimal extraocular surgery. It includes instructions on finding the retinal break in phakic, aphakic and pseudophakic detachments the four rules to find the primary break are presented on the back cover for immediate access.Ophthalmologists, fellows in retinal and vitreous surgery, students and residents will find this information-packed manual essential for diagnosing and repairing retinal detachments. Описание: Numerous studies have pointed to the key role of complement in the pathogenesis of retinal disease, particularly age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Reports about new gene associations and links to other physiological pathways are emerging almost on a weekly base. Several promising clinical candidates covering a wide area of potential treatment applications are in the pipelines of both industrial and academic groups. This indicates an increasing interest in complement as a therapeutic target. In view of these exciting discoveries, scientists from around the world convened at the First Aegean Conferences Conference on Inflammation and Retinal Disease: Complement Biology and Pathology (June 10 17, 2007) in Crete, Greece, to discuss recent advances in this rapidly-evolving field. This volume represents a collection of topics on the functions of complement in eye diseases, pathophysiology, protein structures, and complement therapeutics discussed during the conference. Our sincere thanks to the contributing authors for the time and effort they have devoted to writing what I consider exceptionally informative chapters in a book that will have a significant impact on the complement field. We would also like to express my thanks to Rodanthi Lambris for her assistance in collating the chapters and preparing the documents for publication and I gratefully acknowledge the generous help provided by Dimitrios Lambris in managing the organization of this meeting. Finally, I also thank Andrea Macaluso of Springer Publishers for her supervision in this book s production. John D. Lambris Anthony P."

Описание: This unique book provides detailed explanations for performing electrodiagnosis on retinal diseases. The most recently discovered techniques are used to help the reader understand the principles and methods of visual electrophysiology as well as the pathophysiology of several retinal diseases. The author, Professor Miyake, is a leading expert in the field of visual electrophysiology and has developed new testing methods while discovering new clinical entities of hereditary retinal disease. Over 30 years of his study and experience are summarized in this long awaited book.

Описание: Management of Vitreo-Retinal Disease: A Surgical Approach provides a comprehensive guide to the diagnosis, clinical management and surgery of many retinal disorders. As such it will be invaluable to both trainee and consultant ophthalmologists but will also be very useful to optometrists and ophthalmic opticians who are becoming increasingly involved in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic disorders. The authors' wealth of experience in the field is presented to the reader in a didactic text supported by illustrations and photographs (many in colour) which enable the reader to readily convert the knowledge presented into practice.
