Deterministic Numerical Methods for Unstructured-Mesh Neutron Transport Calculation presents the latest deterministic numerical methods for neutron transport equations (NTEs) with complex geometry, which are of great demand in recent years due to the rapid development of advanced nuclear reactor concepts and high-performance computational technologies. This book covers the wellknown methods proposed and used in recent years, not only theoretical modeling but also numerical results.
This book provides readers with a very thorough understanding of unstructured neutron transport calculations and enables them to develop their own computational codes. The fundamentals, numerical discretization methods, algorithms, and numerical results are discussed. Researchers and engineers from utilities and research institutes are provided with examples on how to model an advanced nuclear reactor, which they can then apply to their own research projects and lab settings.

Описание:
This book highlights mathematical research interests that appear in real life, such as the study and modeling of random and deterministic phenomena. As such, it provides current research in mathematics, with applications in biological and environmental sciences, ecology, epidemiology and social perspectives.
The chapters can be read independently of each other, with dedicated references specific to each chapter. The book is organized in two main parts. The first is devoted to some advanced mathematical problems regarding epidemic models; predictions of biomass; space-time modeling of extreme rainfall; modeling with the piecewise deterministic Markov process; optimal control problems; evolution equations in a periodic environment; and the analysis of the heat equation. The second is devoted to a modelization with interdisciplinarity in ecological, socio-economic, epistemological, demographic and social problems.
Mathematical Modeling of Random and Deterministic Phenomena is aimed at expert readers, young researchers, plus graduate and advanced undergraduate students who are interested in probability, statistics, modeling and mathematical analysis.
Описание: This book - comprised of three separate volumes - presents the recent developments and research discoveries in structural and solid mechanics; it is dedicated to Professor Isaac Elishakoff. This third volume is devoted to non-deterministic mechanics.
Modern Trends in Structural and Solid Mechanics 3 has broad scope, covering topics such: design optimization under uncertainty, interval field approaches, convex analysis, quantum inspired topology optimization and stochastic dynamics. The book is illustrated by many applications in the field of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, biomedical engineering and automotive engineering.
This book is intended for graduate students and researchers in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics.
Описание: Investigates different deterministic and stochastic error bounds of numerical analysis. This book considers worst case error bounds and their relation to the theory of n-widths. It studies special problems such approximation, optimization, and integration for different function classes. It compares adaptive and nonadaptive methods.
Mark H.A. Davis introduced the Piecewise-Deterministic Markov Process (PDMP) class of stochastic hybrid models in an article in 1984. Today it is used to model a variety of complex systems in the fields of engineering, economics, management sciences, biology, Internet traffic, networks and many more. Yet, despite this, there is very little in the way of literature devoted to the development of numerical methods for PDMDs to solve problems of practical importance, or the computational control of PDMPs.
This book therefore presents a collection of mathematical tools that have been recently developed to tackle such problems. It begins by doing so through examples in several application domains such as reliability. The second part is devoted to the study and simulation of expectations of functionals of PDMPs. Finally, the third part introduces the development of numerical techniques for optimal control problems such as stopping and impulse control problems.

Описание: In this monograph, lotsizing problems and their relevance in practical settings are discussed. An extensive literature review is given and various mathematical model formulations and solution procedures are evaluated. A novel class of models is introduced, allowing simultaneous analysis of lotsizing and production sequencing aspects.
Описание: This book presents improved and extended versions of selected papers from EUROGEN 2019, a conference with interest on developing or applying evolutionary and deterministic methods in optimization of design and emphasizing on industrial and societal applications.

Описание: The study of chaotic behaviour of dynamical systems has triggered new efforts to reconcile deterministic and stochastic processes as well as classical and quantum physics. New efforts are made to understand complex and unpredictable behaviour. The papers collected in this volume give a broad overview of these activities. Readers will get a glimpse of the growing importance of L vy processes for physics. They will find new views on fundamental concepts of quantum physics and will see many applications of chaotic and essentially random phenomena to a number of physical problems.
