Описание: This Caribbean Billfish Management and Conservation Plan was created to reverse the trend of declining stocks of billfish species within the Western Central Atlantic Ocean and its adjacent seas, and address unsustainable fishing practices. Its objective is to outline and guide the implementation of a suite of billfish management measures over a five-year period at regional and sub-regional scales to help secure the potential future benefits that can accrue from billfish stocks in the Caribbean. The overarching goal is to improve the management and conservation of billfish stocks. Among other objectives, the plan seeks to improve billfish catch, data collection and reporting; reduce bycatch, discards and overall fishing mortality; improve regional governance and coordination; and enhance the sustainable socio-economic performance of fisheries capturing billfishes in the area. The Members of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC), Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM), Central America Organization for Fishery and Aquaculture (OSPESCA) and the Caribbean Fisheries Management Council (CFMC) developed this plan together during the period 2015-2018, through the Recreational Fisheries Working Group, and in close collaboration with all key stakeholders in the Consortium on Billfish Management and Conservation (CBMC). The plan recognizes the mandate of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) over billfish stocks, and supports the implementation of the ICCAT recommendations in the region.

Описание: Principles for Management of Fisheries and Wildlife: The Manager as Decision-maker is a unique introductory text that explains critical theories and principles of management and how to apply these successfully to real-world fisheries and wildlife situations and issues. Readers learn about management paradigms, decision-making frameworks and skills, planning for success, and ethics – all taught in the context of fisheries and wildlife issues such as habitat management, human-wildlife conflict, managing over-abundant and at-risk species, and harvest regulations. Each chapter includes guiding outcomes, terms and definitions and critical thinking questions. Opening problems and closing case studies provide opportunities for application of both ecological and management knowledge and skills. Readers also benefit from learning about international models of wildlife management. Rooted in the belief that biological and ecological knowledge can only be enhanced by sound management, planning, and decision-making skills, the book prepares biologists to be successful managers and leaders. Principles for Management of Fisheries and Wildlife is an outstanding textbook for introductory courses in the discipline.
One of the main objectives of planning and design is the reflection of the works to the space. Therefore, the starting point of this book is to reveal the research conducted by different professions in the field of spatial planning and design. For this purpose, original researches on direct application and land were included. Planning and design studies need co-operation between professions in order to fulfill this philosophy. These activities are effective means of fulfilling the philosophy of sustainability. Planning and design is a tool to tell the story of a community, and how it’s past, present and future work together for a sustainable tomorrow. The design process in which the most appropriate spatial compositions are revealed by shaping the areas in the direction of planning decisions, develops in the continuation of the planning process. This book is for landscape architects and other planning and design professions. Theoretical foundations, theories, methods, and applications will be essential parts of this reference book. In addition, this book addresses several very different subjects of study; landscape management, biodiversity, landscape restoration, landscape design, urban design, urban planning and architectural design related to theory, practice and the results will be covered.

Описание: Tropical dry forests are the most exploited and endangered ecosystems in the world. A combination of climatic and human factors often reduce these forests to patches of dry scrubs or savannas. Because these ecosystems experience a more arduous and less anticipated environment, they are more prone to environmental stress as plant communities are developed. Therefore, urgent research is necessary to understand both the detrimental issues and problem-solving approaches to conserving these important forests.
The Handbook of Research on the Conservation and Restoration of Tropical Dry Forests is a pivotal reference source that combines theory and practice on the current trends and issues in this important ecological subject and discusses future challenges towards conservation strategies of these tropical dry forests. While highlighting topics such as forest management, natural regeneration, and silviculture, this publication examines the anthropogenic impacts on tropical dry forests and the necessity to rebuild their ecosystems. This book is ideally designed for state forest agency professionals, resource managers, non-governmental organization agents, ecologists, botanists, environmentalists, students, and researchers seeking current research on the threats to these forests.
