Описание: I have learned much about the co-occurring difficulties that accompany PTSD. Consequently, my perspective of the systemic impact that trauma has on human beings has altered accordingly. I now view it as a systems fault built into our species. Physiologically, it seems that we are instinctively programmed to avoid stimuli which might do us harm. What we are not programmed to do is to 'turn off' the switching mechanism that immortalizes the memory of trauma within each of us. In each new chapter, a symptom complex that often accompanies PTSD is introduced. For example, I've come to the conclusion that unless all aspects of the comorbid condition of the sleep disorder are eliminated through a specific treatment, the PTSD neuronal network is still activated. By this measure alone, all current treatments would be considered failures. Two unique chapters are included with the first discussing the association between PTSD and dementia as well as pseudo-dementia. The second refers to an exciting newly emerging science that offers the potential for at least partial remediation of traumatic brain injury as well as dementing disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. This intervention is referred to as Photobiomodulation. Dr. Michael Hamblin, who has written over 289 peer-reviewed articles, has graciously written the foreword to this book noting that: "In this sense, acoustical neuromodulation and photobiomodulation share a common mechanistic foundation resting on neuroplasticity. As I read about the applications of RESET Therapy to the PTSD comorbid conditions enumerated in this book, I was struck with an awareness of the inherent potential in each and every cell in our body to heal and restore itself." Indeed, 'heal and restore' is finally becoming possible through the advances forthcoming from Dr. Frank Lawlis, creator of the BAUD and Dr. Michael Hamblin, pioneer in the development of photobiomodulation.
In We Survived Sexual Abuse You Can Too Pamela K. Orgeron, the editor, a Board Certified Christian Counselor, an Advanced Christian Life Coach, and a survivor of past sexual abuse combines her educational and life experiences to compile a book that will be helpful to others struggling with sexual abuse issues and that will help in the prevention of sexual abuse in today's world. She divided the book into six sections. In Section One, survivors of sexual abuse share their stories of overcoming past sexual abuse to become healthy, productive citizens in today's society. In these stories names, locations, and other details have been changed to protect the survivors and any other innocent victims in the stories. Through these success stories, sexual abuse victims will find hope and strength to face the reality, pain, and the work required to recover from past abuse.
Orgeron believes that prevention is always the best medicine for any type of needed healing or pain resolved. Thus, in Section Two of this book she includes information on and suggestions for the prevention of sexual abuse. The responses and effects of sexual abuse are highlighted in Section Three. Section Four offers information on the recovery process, including the role of parents, teachers, health care workers, and the church in helping an individual recovering from sexual abuse.
With incest too often swept under the rug in families and with the depth of the brokenness resulting from this atrocity, Orgeron felt she would be amiss to not include Section Five, "Incest: Sexual Sin in the Family." Orgeron believes that by including this section incest victims will find hope and encouragement to no longer bury these "family secrets" in the closet but have the courage to accept what is and find healing through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
Though We Survived Sexual Abuse You Can Too focuses more on offering help for victims of sexual abuse, with the National Center for Victims of Crime (2012) reporting "40-80% of juvenile sex offenders have themselves been victims of sexual abuse" ( 9), Orgeron believes information about perpetrators and how to help them also needs to be addressed. She attempts this through the last section, "Section Six: For and about Perpetrators."

Holocaust Memory in the Digital Age explores the nexus of new media and memory practices, raising questions about how advances in digital technologies continue to influence the nature of Holocaust memorialization. Through an in-depth study of the largest and most widely available collection of videotaped interviews with survivors and other witnesses to the Holocaust, the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive, Jeffrey Shandler weighs the possibilities and challenges brought about by digital forms of public memory.
The Visual History Archive's holdings are extensive—over 100,000 hours of video, including interviews with over 50,000 individuals—and came about at a time of heightened anxiety about the imminent passing of the generation of Holocaust survivors and other eyewitnesses. Now, the Shoah Foundation's investment in new digital media is instrumental to its commitment to remembering the Holocaust both as a subject of historical importance in its own right and as a paradigmatic moral exhortation against intolerance. Shandler not only considers the Archive as a whole, but also looks closely at individual survivors' stories, focusing on narrative, language, and spectacle to understand how Holocaust remembrance is mediated.
On the eve of her twentieth birthday, the author is kidnapped and gang-raped. Afterwards, she faces a sheriff who won't take the report and a doctor who tells her to "get over it." This is a story about sexual trauma, about living through it, and with it. It is not about getting over it, it's about stumbling on, it is about living anyway. Rape creates an emotional abyss. This is the story of living on the wrong side of that abyss, of living with undiagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the intrusions of the trauma into everyday life, the embarrassment, sometimes humorous, sometimes paralyzing, the fear and the failures. And of the connections that worked, though not many, some held. I share the story hoping it will help those who have been assaulted, those who love them, and those who work to help them heal.
The literature on psychological trauma and traumatic attachment has progressed over the past few decades, however issues of coerced and internalized perpetration have not been fully explored and deconstructed. This book presents a synthesis of relational and archetypal psychology, trauma and dissociation theory, and highly relevant child soldier literature, to offer new clinical perspectives to assist psychotherapists and trauma patients to achieve more successful therapy outcomes.
The Alchemy of Wolves and Sheep offers instructive, cautionary and innovative therapeutic approaches to help transform the lives of survivors of complex trauma. Providing an explanation of how the effects of coerced perpetration trauma are built, and the damage done to the psyches and lives of most trauma victims, the book extends our knowledge base in a thorough deconstruction of the nature of perpetration and its effects on the psyche.
Chapters include:
- trauma, dissociation, and coerced perpetration
- the child soldier as a model of internalized perpetration
- relational concepts in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders
- treatment trajectory
- archetypal constructs as a vehicle for integration.
This book provides valuable new perspectives on the psychodynamic challenges and opportunities for mental health professionals treating internalized perpetration in survivors of complex trauma, and will prove essential reading for psychotherapists, psychoanalysts and post-graduate students as well as researchers, legal scholars and policy makers.
