Описание: This book titled "Microfiltration: Principle, Process and Applications" is formed of 6 chapters covering many research aspects on microfiltration. These aspects include reviews and original research dealing mainly with fouling and cleaning of microfiltration membranes. In Chapter 1, mechanisms of fouling and factors affecting the fouling are presented. Also, it deals with techniques that assist mitigation of membrane fouling that occurs in microfiltration. The aim of Chapter 2 was the modelling and optimization by artificial neural network and genetic algorithm of yeast suspensions turbulence promoter assisted cross-flow microfiltration in concentration operation mode. Chapter 3 focuses on the principles, developments, implementation and application of microfiltration in wastewater treatment. In addition, the integration of microfiltration with other water and wastewater treatment technique is also included as well as the advantages and disadvantage of the microfiltration. The Chapter 4 objective is to introduce the most commonly used turbulence promoters types. Furthermore, congenial studies on the turbulence promoters application in the cross-flow MF regarding food industry streams and products are also presented within the chapter. In Chapter 5, the microfiltration process was used in order to obtain concentrated papaya (Carica papaya L.) pulp, evaluating the flux permeate from papaya treated pulp with enzyme pectinase and using different nominal mass molecular weights and different membranes materials. Chapter 6 discusses the performances and the quality of treated water of a Tunisian textile industry through a low-cost tubular ceramic membrane prepared by extrusion of a plastic paste prepared from clay powder mixed with organic additives and water.
The book aims to provide principles of chemical engineering design and at the same time examples of their application using the most often employed simulation software. The book is divided into four sections: Introduction to design and simulation; Design and simulation of single unit operations; Plant design and simulation -- conventional components; and Plant design and simulation -- nonconventional components.
The first section describes basic methodologies for computer aided design followed by a description of basic steps of process simulation in Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS. Process concept syntheses, data collection, thermodynamic phase equilibrium, physical properties, conventional and nonconventional components, and chemical reaction data are the main topics of this section. The second section is devoted to the design and simulation of individual single unit operations. After representing a mathematical model of each unit operation such as reactors, separators, heat exchangers etc., examples of real problems are solved using Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS respectively. Specific requirements for the model of a given type of equipment, is highlighted, and method of its selection and costing are shown.
The third section describes the design of new plants and simulation of existing plants where conventional chemicals and material mixtures with measurable compositions are used. In this section, material integration, energy analysis and economic evaluation are described and shown on examples in Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS respectively. Specific tools of Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS for energy and economic analysis of processes are also applied to real examples. The use of programs such as Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating (EDR) for detailed design of shell and tube heat exchangers, Aspen Energy Analyser (AEA) for pinch point analysis and design of heat exchanger networks, and Aspen Economic Evaluation for mapping, sizing and economic evaluation of processes, is introduced in the book. The final section covers plant design and simulation of processes using nonconventional components. In many industrial processes, exact composition of material streams is not known. Design and simulation of such processes requires specific approaches. Petroleum refining and upgrading of crude oil distillation products, combustion, gasification, pyrolysis and drying of different solids, and many other processes belong to this group.
