Описание: This book is focused on the challenges of digital transition in building construction, and potential solutions through the use of multi-criteria analysis. It provides clear explanations of proposed approaches from both a theoretical and practical point of view, including augmented reality and user-reporting.
New Approaches for Multi-Criteria Analysis in Constructions begins by explaining classic multi-criteria analysis methods, such as Analytic Hierarchy Processes and the Simos-Roy-Figueira method, before moving on to discuss Augmented Reality - Decision Making. This new approach provides a tool to investigate user's perceptions, and utilises an interactive experience of the real-world environment combined with classic methods to provide a large amount of visual information. Finally, a detailed guide to user-reporting is presented.
Offering new possibilities for applying multi-criteria analysis in a simpler, faster and more accessible way, this book supports analysis which considers users experience and perception. Architects, engineers, researchers and practitioners will be able to utilise augmented reality environments, multi-criteria analysis and user reporting for the building design choices, supply selection, maintenance strategies, risk and complex performance assessment.

Описание:
The investigation phase is the most important segment of any geotechnical study. Using the correct methods and properly interpreting the results are critical to a successful investigation. Comprising chapters from the second edition of the revered Geotechnical Engineering Investigation Handbook, Geotechnical Investigation Methods offers clear, concise, and hands-on guidance for choosing and executing a variety of field investigations.
This practical guide provides an affordable alternative to larger handbooks and condenses the essential elements of a geotechnical investigation into an easily digestible and readily accessible format. Renowned expert Roy E. Hunt discusses preliminary study to predict geologic conditions, applying information from geologic and topographic maps as well as remotely sensed imagery, proper test boring procedures, the various geophysical methods and when each is appropriate, and a variety of methods for determining materials' engineering properties in the lab and in situ. Hunt also covers field instrumentation for surface movements, subsurface deformations, and in situ pressures and stresses, as well as instrument arrays for typical problems such as structure settlement and fault movements. Eliminate the need to search through narrow volumes or large handbooks with Geotechnical Investigation Methods: A Field Guide for Geotechnical Engineers, a convenient and complete guide to the techniques you need.

Описание: Abstract: The purpose of this research project was to evaluate techniques to improve the application of in situ penetration testing to Florida soils, with emphasis on the electronic cone penetrometer test (ECPT). Topics addressed included describing the spatial variability of soil properties, classifying Florida soils with the ECPT, and correlating the ECPT with the standard penetration test (SPT). A collateral purpose was to create an in situ test data base consisting of 97 ECPT soundings and 79 SPT tests. This data base was subsequently evaluated using statistical analysis. The spatial variability study was carried out to evaluate methods of interpolation between test soundings. The techniques studied included three deterministic approaches (the mean, median, and a 10% trimmed average), three distance-weighting methods (two based on reciprocal distances, and linear interpolation), a random field model (a hybrid distance-weighting/regression model), and regression analysis. While none of the approaches stood out as consistently superior predictors, the deterministic approaches were generally inferior to the other, more sophisticated methods. The distance-weighting methods and the random field model performed comparably, but were sensitive to individual test soundings. The regression models predicted slightly better on the average, and with more stability. The ECPT classification study used parametric and nonparametric discriminant analysis of cone data on soils that had been identified from the SPT test. The ECPT was able to group soil accurately into one of seven categories (organics, clay, silt, clayey sand, silty sand, sand, weathered rock) approximately 40% of the time. This percentage increased to 70% when the three sand categories were combined, reflecting the SPT drillers' difficulties in discriminating silty soils. In the SPT-ECPT correlation study, average q /N ratios for Florida soils were much higher than expected, possibly due to cementation or liquefaction. Regression analysis of the data suggested that the nature of the SPT-ECPT relationship is more a function of the magnitude of the tip resistance, and less of the actual soil type.
