Описание: Never Waste a Perfectly Good Crisis. The virus is real; the response to it is fake. Thats the assumption you have to begin with if you want to get to the truth about Covid-19. It was the conclusion Dr. Crossley reached at the start of the pandemic. As an E.R. doctor with over 30 years experience, what he saw on the ground didnt match the official narrative coming from the bureaucrats in charge. They painted a picture of a deadly pathogen that would kill millions. What he was seeing was a handful of Covid patients who were genuinely ill... and thousands who had minimal symptoms, or none at all. The deception began with the PCR test, which sets a ridiculously high cycle threshold, virtually guaranteeing millions of false positive results. This gave the Covid disciples the chance to massively inflate CNNs running case count. But case counts are only scary if a lot of people are dying. So, how do you get high case counts AND high death rates? Thats easy, call every death a Covid death - car accidents, heart attacks, even dying hospice patients with do not resuscitate directives. One stunning statistic illustrates the magnitude of the deception: the number of flu cases plummeted from 38 million in 2019-20 to a few thousand in 2020-21. Have we eradicated flu, or is flu masquerading as Covid? Why go to such lengths to make Covid seem more deadly than it really is? One answer is that it gives bureaucrats an excuse to impose punitive lockdowns. Are they justified? You be the judge, but this is the first time in history that healthy people have been quarantined en masse for a disease that poses very little threat to them. The deception is about more than just statistics. Safe and effective medicines like hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin were withheld even though they showed real promise as a cure for Covid. Why would you do that? Could it be that there are those among us who dont want this pandemic to end? After shunning safe and effective cures, the authorities chose to promote an experimental vaccine instead. The mRNA vaccine is unlike any vaccine weve seen before. It uses gene-altering technology to enlist our own cellular machinery to replicate the spike protein that is the cause of severe Covid disease. In spite of the vaccines radical nature, it was rushed to production in less than a year, completely bypassing the customary 8-13 year trial phase. Experts like Dr. Fauci assure us that its the safest vaccine ever produced. How do they know? You dont get to make statements like that until the end of the clinical trials, and they arent going to happen. This is a global human experiment, and you and I are the guinea pigs! Deaths from the Covid vaccine have already eclipsed the deaths from all other vaccines for the last 30 years combined, and this may be the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps the most sinister part of the plan is the push for vaccine passports. There are those who would deny people the right to work, or go to school, or travel, or even buy food if they wont submit to the jab. And it wont end with one or two jabs. The prospect of endless Covid variants will ensure that the pandemic is extended indefinitely while setting the stage for unlimited boosters. In this book, Dr. Crossley looks at everything from mask effectiveness to mRNA vaccines. He compares the Covid pandemic to the Bubonic Plague of the 1300s and the Influenza pandemic of 1918. He uses simple analogies to explain such concepts as cycle thresholds, which are essential to understanding the pandemic. His hope is to give you a peek into what life is like in the trenches of the Covid Wars, separate fact from fiction, and arm you with information to help you navigate the challenging days ahead.

Описание: This book explores how the women’s orchestra at Auschwitz-Birkenau has been remembered in both media and popular culture since the end of the Second World War. In particular it focuses on Fania Fenelon’s memoir, Playing for Time (1976), which was subsequently adapted into a film. Since then the publication has become a cornerstone of Holocaust remembrance and scholarship. Susan Eischeid therefore investigates whether it deserves such status, and whether such material can ever be considered reliable source material for historians. Using divergent source material gathered by the author, such as interviews with the other surviving members of the orchestra, this Pivot seeks to shed light on this period of women’s history, and questions how we remember the Holocaust today.

Описание: In May 1945, as World War II drew to a close in Europe, some 30,000 Russian Cossacks surrendered to British forces in Austria, believing they would be spared repatriation to the Soviet Union. The fate of those among them who were Soviet citizens had been sealed by the Yalta Agreement, signed by the Allied leaders a few months earlier. Ever since, mystery has surrounded Britain’s decision to include among those returned to Stalin a substantial number of White Russians, who had fled their country after the Russian Revolution of 1917 and found refuge in various European countries. They had never been Soviet citizens, and should not have been handed over. Some were prominent tsarist generals, on whose handover the Soviets were particularly insistent. General Charles Keightley, the responsible British officer, concealed the presence of White Russians from his superiors, who had issued repeated orders stipulating that only Soviet nationals should be handed over, and even then only if they did not resist. Through a succession underhanded moves, Keightley secretly delivered up the leading Cossack commanders to the Soviets, while force of unparalleled brutality was employed to hand over thousands of Cossack men, women, and children to a ghastly fate. Particularly sinister was the role of the future British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, whose own machinations are scrutinized here.

Following the publication of Count Nikolai Tolstoy’s last book on the subject in 1986, the British government closed ranks, and three years later an English court issued a £1,500,000 judgment against him for allegedly libeling the British chief of staff who issued the fatal orders. Since then, however, Count Tolstoy has gradually acquired a devastating body of heretofore unrevealed evidence filling the remaining gaps in this tragic history. Much of this material derives from long-sealed Soviet archives, to which Tolstoy received access by a special decree from the late Russian President Boris Yeltsin. What really happened during these murky events is now revealed for the first time.

Описание:

The world of post-truth is a world of intense disinformation, an offensive of pseudoscience and widespread scepticism about expert knowledge. It is a world in which the terms of the political game are imposed by illiberal democrats who undermine the authority of scientific institutions. The liberal-democratic politicians have had to take up the gauntlet thrown down to them in this way. However, according to the book's author, they have not been followed by liberal theorists. Liberal theorists have never attempted to confront the pessimistic vision of a world in which citizens cannot distinguish expert from pseudo-expert and science from pseudo-science. The dominant liberal theories are based on the assumption that citizens are either competent to participate in major political decisions or that they can easily acquire such competence. The book strikingly explores a very different perspective. How would the theory and practice of liberal democracy have to change if we assume that laypersons will never appreciate the relevance of the arguments put forward by experts?

Описание:

Thinking about the Enlightenment looks beyond the current parameters of studying the Enlightenment, to the issues that can be understood by reflecting on the period in a broader context. Each of the thirteen original chapters, by an international and interdisciplinary team of contributors, illustrates the problematic legacy of the Enlightenment and the continued ramifications of its thinking since the eighteenth century. Together, they consider whether modernity can see its roots in the intellectual revolution of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The collection is divided into six sections, preceded by a comprehensive introduction to the field and the most recent scholarship on the period. Across the sections, the contributors consider modern day encounters with Enlightenment thinking, including Kant's moral philosophy, the conflict between reason and faith, the significance of the Enlightenment of law and the gender inequality that persisted throughout the eighteenth century. By examining specific encounters with the problematic results of Enlightenment concerns, the contributors are able to illuminate and offer new perspectives on topics such as human nature, race, politics, gender and rationality.

Drawing from history, philosophy, literature and anthropology, this book enables students and academics alike to take a fresh look at the Enlightenment and its legacy in the modern world.

Описание:

Superstitions are commonplace in the modern world. Mostly, however, they evoke innocuous images of people reading their horoscopes or avoiding black cats. Certain religious practices might also come to mind—praying to St. Christopher or lighting candles for the dead. Benign as they might seem today, such practices were not always perceived that way. In medieval Europe superstitions were considered serious offenses, violations of essential precepts of Christian doctrine or immutable natural laws. But how and why did this come to be? In Fearful Spirits, Reasoned Follies, Michael D. Bailey explores the thorny concept of superstition as it was understood and debated in the Middle Ages.

Bailey begins by tracing Christian thinking about superstition from the patristic period through the early and high Middle Ages. He then turns to the later Middle Ages, a period that witnessed an outpouring of writings devoted to superstition—tracts and treatises with titles such as De superstitionibus and Contra vitia superstitionum. Most were written by theologians and other academics based in Europe’s universities and courts, men who were increasingly anxious about the proliferation of suspect beliefs and practices, from elite ritual magic to common healing charms, from astrological divination to the observance of signs and omens. As Bailey shows, however, authorities were far more sophisticated in their reasoning than one might suspect, using accusations of superstition in a calculated way to control the boundaries of legitimate religion and acceptable science. This in turn would lay the conceptual groundwork for future discussions of religion, science, and magic in the early modern world. Indeed, by revealing the extent to which early modern thinkers took up old questions about the operation of natural properties and forces using the vocabulary of science rather than of belief, Bailey exposes the powerful but in many ways false dichotomy between the "superstitious" Middle Ages and "rational" European modernity.
