Описание: Divorce has become a form of family change in contemporary western societies, spawning much research to investigate its causes and consequences. This book analyzes the experiences of British-Indian adult children of divorce and contextualize their experiences within the larger multi-cultural polity of the UK.
Описание: Adult children are often overlooked and forgotten when their parents divorce later in life, but in these pages they will find comfort and understanding for the many feelings, frustrations, and challenges they face. For more than two decades, a silent revolution has been occurring and creating a seismic shift in the American family and families in other countries. It has been unfolding without much comment, and its effects are being felt across three to four generations: more couples are divorcing later in life. Called the "gray divorce revolution," the cultural phenomenon describes couples who divorce after the age of 50. Overlooked in the issues that affect couples divorcing later in in life are the adult children of divorcing parents. Their voices open this book, and they are the voices of men and women, 18 to 50 years old. Some of them are single; some are married. Some have children of their own. All of them are in different stages of shock, fear, and sudden, dramatic change. In Home Will Never Be the Same: A Guide for Adult Children of Gray Divorce, Carol Hughes and Bruce Fredenburg share their deep understanding gained during the innumerable hours they have spent with these women and men in their clinical practices. The result is a valuable resource for these too often forgotten adult children, many of whom find that, whenever they express their feelings and experiences, the most important people in their lives frequently ignore and dismiss them. As the divorce rate for older adults soars, so too does the number of adult children who are experiencing parental divorce. Yet, these adult children frequently say that they are the only ones who are aware of what they are going through, no one understands what they are experiencing, and they feel painfully alone.

Описание: Divorce has become a form of family change in contemporary western societies, spawning much research to investigate its causes and consequences. Such research has promoted a sociological understanding of divorce, impact on families and individuals as well as implications for public policy. However, research in this domain has been largely restricted to white populations in western contexts as well as adhering to quantitative research methodologies. There is little understanding of the dynamics of minority ethnic families, sometimes resulting in false assumptions and over-generalizations about family structures, stability and transitions in these communities. The impact of this gap in knowledge leads to perspective blocks in terms of how minority ethnic families are conceived in the public sphere as well as in academia. Similar to other minority ethnic groups, there is little literature on divorce in South-Asian families. Though traditionally divorce rates within South-Asian communities were low, there is now an upward trend. This is the first book to analyze the experiences of British-Indian adult children of divorce and contextualize their experiences within the larger multi-cultural polity of the UK. It also discusses the value and implications of understanding the divorce phenomenon and how it is experienced within this community to present insights into what multi-cultural social work and knowledge can mean. This can also enhance support provision for all children and enable better coping of family transitions by acknowledging their specific contexts and needs.
Still struggling from the effects of a narcissistic or psychopathically abusive relationship?
Many people do and sadly there is very little information available to be found online or in the written research, or with counsellors and therapists that can help. Narcissistic Victim Syndrome is not officially recognised, nor is it widely even known.
Even when it is accepted, recognised and known not many people seem to know what to DO ABOUT IT to heal it... The fact is being in a relationship with a narcissist over a long period of time has long lasting traumatic effects that can be extremely catastrophic to the person suffering them.
DO THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS SOUND FAMILIAR?
- Ruined self confidence
- Doubting yourself and your sanity
- Mood swings
- Sleeplessness
- Extreme weight loss or weight gain
- Uncharacteristic jealousy/ insecurity
- Feeling like you don't know the difference between right and wrong
- Extreme paranoia (being turned into an obsessive detective)
- Endless, repetitive obsessive thinking about your ex
- Constantly trying to find explanations for what has happened
- Feelings of helplessness and despair
- A desire to self isolate
- Feeling desperately misunderstood
- Overwhelming feelings of loss and grief
- Extreme bouts of rage
- An inability to be comfortable with yourself
- Strange dreams
- Sudden inexplicable anxiety followed by rapid dips into depression
The list goes on....
"NOBODY UNDERSTANDS "
I hear this frustrated cry from abused people a lot.
I felt the same way when I was recovering from emotional abuse at the hands of a narcissistic/borderline psychopath. If you try and tell people who have NO EXPERIENCE with a narcissist (there is no experience like being with a narcissist, its not their fault they can't understand) about it they will either deny your experience, tell you you are exaggerating or look at you like you were crazy.
"Maybe my ex is right, maybe it really is me...."
WHAT YOU NEED NOW:
- Someone who has been through the same experiences you have and understands them from the inside.
-Someone who has the knowledge, training, education and experience working on himself and others to lead you through the emotional sh*tstorm that breaking with a narcissist can create.
I can't promise you that reading to this book is going to be a "total cure", but I can promise that if you APPLY YOURSELF DILLIGENTLY, take notes, read and re-read the chapters, follow all instructions to the letter, with a tenacious resolve to get better you will feel an instant decrease in anxiety within the first 24 hours and should see huge improvements within the first 3 days.
This is not hype, this is what my audience commonly report
Have you met the dark nature of narcissism and toxic relationships? How do you feel right now; scared, sad, furious or vulnerable and confused? Are you asking yourself how to get out of there? Please do it
There are many nice people in this world, and it's nice to let them be part of our lives, fully in contact with self-love's tenderness and with the joy of simple relationships.
The words you are currently reading were written by a psychologist with a codependent past.
In my books you will find my personal vicissitudes and scientific evidences, emotive stories, and academic theories.
Chapter after chapter, you'll see the narcissist's secrets as well as how the narcissist sees yours (perfectly).
You will see how we create our own identity and you will become a "Law of Attraction" expert.
We will talk a lot about love and how love can set the guidelines of happy lives but also the most painful ones, depending on what love means for us.
Recovering from abusive relationships can take many weeks, months, or even years. But in the precise moment you chose to reject any form of toxic manipulation, well in that precise moment your life changes and changes forever, and you come out of it stronger than before. This is an achievement to be proud of, it's one we claim as our own, and it will be the best inspiration for others in similar situations.
Sometimes, we can heal by ourselves, sometimes we need specialistic support, sometimes we just need to see in a book how people called "narcissists" can act in such a destructive way as if it were normal.
This book is Not "a 5-step guide to be happy". It's a deep trip into the sinister and fascinating nature of the narcissist, a tool to repeal their abuses with assertive serenity and without changing the essence of our being, only the dynamics of your relationships.
