Описание: By reading this book you will enter into the core of the problems that follows the dislocation of people. You will clearly see all the psychological, economic, cultural and social aspects which condition both the issues of crime in individual states and the way in which international law will be applied to these people. Of course, no less important is the issue of preserving the basic human rights of those who change their domicile for a certain reason. The approach to the problem is comprehensive, and will help us to better understand the reason for accepting or not accepting newcomers in the new environment.

Описание:

"No one has written with more penetrating skepticism about the history of human rights."
--Adam Kirsch, Wall Street Journal

"Moyn breaks new ground in examining the relationship between human rights and economic fairness."
--George Soros

The age of human rights has been kindest to the rich. While state violations of political rights have garnered unprecedented attention in recent decades, a commitment to material equality has quietly disappeared. In its place, economic liberalization has emerged as the dominant force. In this provocative book, Samuel Moyn considers how and why we chose to make human rights our highest ideals while simultaneously neglecting the demands of broader social and economic justice.

Moyn places the human rights movement in relation to this disturbing shift and explores why the rise of human rights has occurred alongside exploding inequality.

"Moyn asks whether human-rights theorists and advocates, in the quest to make the world better for all, have actually helped to make things worse... Sure to provoke a wider discussion."
--Adam Kirsch, Wall Street Journal

"A sharpening interrogation of the liberal order and the institutions of global governance created by, and arguably for, Pax Americana... Consistently bracing."
--Pankaj Mishra, London Review of Books

"Moyn suggests that our current vocabularies of global justice--above all our belief in the emancipatory potential of human rights--need to be discarded if we are work to make our vastly unequal world more equal... A] tour de force."
--Los Angeles Review of Books

Описание: State borders regulate cross-border mobility and determine peoples` chances to travel, work, and study across the globe. This book looks at how global mobility is defined by borders in 2011 in comparison to the 1970s. The authors trace the transformation of OECD-state borders in recent decades and show how borders have become ever more selective.

Описание: This book rethinks meritocracy as a form of coloniality, namely, a social imaginary that reproduces narratives of ethnic and racial difference between European centres and peripheries, and between Europe and its others. Drawing on interviews with working and middle class, white and Black Italians who moved to Britain after the 2008 economic crisis, the book explores the narratives of Northern meritocracy and Southern backwardness that inform migrants' motivations for moving abroad, and how these narratives are experienced within classed, racialised and gendered migrations. Connecting decolonial theory with the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, this book provides innovative insights into the relationships between meritocracy, coloniality and European whiteness, and into the social stratification of EU migrations.
