Описание: With the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen universities worldwide having to 'pivot' quickly to transform their education delivery to an online environment, as well as having to conduct their business operations virtually/remotely. For those universities who embraced digital transformation, they were able to adapt quickly to this new learning environment. Many others were not as successful. Part of the formula for success is for universities and other higher education institutions apply digital transformation technologies, processes, and leadership in this 'new normal'. This book will highlight what is needed in terms of digital transformation for the universities of the future in terms of technologies, processes, culture, and leadership considerations. The book will be part of the new World Scientific book series, Digital Transformation: Accelerating Organizational Intelligence.Related Link(s)

Описание: This book presents how Digital Transformation is a requirement to upgrade Latin American universities to a next level in management, lecturing and learning processes and strategies.
Описание: This book chronicles a 10-year introduction of blended learning into the delivery at a leading technological university, with a longstanding tradition of technology-enabled teaching and learning, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Hence, both teachers and students were familiar with the idea of online courses. Despite this, the longitudinal experiment did not proceed as expected. Though few technical problems, it required behavioural changes from teachers and learners, thus unearthing a host of socio-technical issues, challenges, and conundrums. With the undercurrent of design ideals such as “tech for good”, any industrial sector must examine whether digital platforms are credible substitutes or at best complementary. In this era of Industry 4.0, higher education, like any other industry, should not be about the creative destruction of what we value in universities, but their digital transformation. The book concludes with an agenda for large, repeatable Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) to validate digital platforms that could fulfil the aspirations of the key stakeholder groups – students, faculty, and regulators as well as delving into the role of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as surrogates for “fees-free” higher education and whether the design of such a HiEd 4.0 platform is even a credible proposition. Specifically, the book examines the data-driven evidence within a design-based research methodology to present outcomes of two alternative instructional designs evaluated – traditional lecturing and blended learning. Based on the research findings and statistical analysis, it concludes that the inexorable shift to online delivery of education must be guided by informed educational management and innovation.
Описание: Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) – public and private universities and colleges – have long demonstrated their resilience; bouncing back, surviving and thriving in crises. The Covid-19 pandemic is perhaps the greatest disrupter of education systems in history, having impacted an estimated 1.6 billion learners in over 190 countries, and laid bare the weaknesses and challenges faced by HEIs. In this book, Lloyd Waller, proposes the adoption of a digital transformation strategy for HEIs and presents a strategic framework for not only understanding the issues at play within HEIs but also, shares a model providing a detailed step by step guide for planning and implementation. Free of technical language and therefore accessible to the administrator, technocrat, and manager alike, the concepts are broken down and easily understandable by any one working on any aspect of a digital transformation strategy for an HEI.

Описание: Communication and Learning in an Age of Digital Transformation provides cross-disciplinary perspectives on digitization as social transformation and its impact on communication and learning. This work presents openness within its interpretation of the digital and its impact on learning and communication, acknowledging historical contexts and contemporary implications emerging from discourse on digitization. The book presents a triangulation of different research perspectives. These perspectives, which range from digital resistance parks and cyber-religious questions to cultural-scientific media-theoretical reflections, point to the performative openness of the analysis. The book represents an interdisciplinary approach and opens a space for understanding the social complexity of digital transformations in teaching and learning. This book will be of great interest to academics, post graduate students and researchers in the field of digital learning, communication and education research.
