Описание: "Nature as Limit" provides an account of Nature in terms of the collapse of the subject-object
binary, presenting Heidegger’s work as a series of prolegomena toward a
prospective ecological thought. This begins with a critical re-evaluation of the homology
Heidegger discovers between the essence of technology and the trajectory of Western
metaphysics, with special attention paid to his return to Aristotle’s Physics in 1939. The
essence of technology is, in fact, an intrinsic aspect of Nature. It lies at the heart of all
structured appearance as an autonomous occurrence in which humankind is entangled but
cannot master. Examining and expanding upon the consequences of this, the book
reimagines technics and our understanding of Nature as ‘technical image’ and beyond.
The question of Nature becomes that of an unwavering finitude within the endless
recycling of formal phenomenality. Transfiguring Heidegger’s concept of Ereignis and
critiquing in passing some of its accepted interpretations, the book argues that Nature is a
process or occurrence of limitation. It is a delimitation that both sets in motion and keeps
in motion without itself ever coming into the picture. It is an uncapturable immanence in
the total field of phenomena, irreducible to any presence and thus implicating an
‘absence’ at the heart of every occurrence, an incompletedness of any naturalism. This
view of Nature is further explored through a series of figures of localization—Dasein,
thing, clearing, et al.— that raise strange and compelling questions about time, space, and
history, and which lead finally to a re-characterization of Dasein as an inversion of its
environment as ecological awareness. These adventurous considerations push at the outer
limits of what Heidegger’s philosophy can accomplish and conclude with a vision of how
the motifs of death, poetry, and the unknowable help form the fundamental questions of
ecological thought. "Nature as Limit" confronts Heidegger’s use of language on its own
terms, exploring the full breadth of its intention, then proceeds to a demystification of
that language, a reappraisal that offers a new lexicon for future readers. At stake is a
reading of a rather unfamiliar Heidegger that nonetheless remains faithful to his text and
rigorous in its reconstruction.

Описание:
"There is no attempt here to lay down as inviolable or to legislate certain ways of looking at things or ways of proceeding for philosophers of religion, only proposals for how to deal with a range of basic issues—proposals that I hope will ignite much fruitful discussion and which, in any case, I shall take as a basis for my own ongoing work in the field."—from the Preface
Providing an original and systematic treatment of foundational issues in philosophy of religion, J. L. Schellenberg's new book addresses the structure of religious and irreligious belief, the varieties of religious skepticism, and the nature of religion itself. From the author's searching analysis of faith emerges a novel understanding of propositional faith as requiring the absence of belief.
Schellenberg asks what the aims of the field should be, setting out a series of principles for carrying out some of the most important of these aims. His account of justification considers not only belief but also other responses to religious claims and distinguishes the justification of responses, propositions, and persons. Throughout Prolegomena to a Philosophy of Religion, Schellenberg is laying the groundwork for an elaboration of his own vision while at the same time suggesting how philosophers might rethink assumptions guiding most of today's work in analytic philosophy of religion.

Описание: Adrian Johnston’s trilogy Prolegomena to Any Future Materialism aims to forge a thoroughly materialist yet antireductive theory of subjectivity. In this second volume, A Weak Nature Alone, Johnston focuses on the philosophy of nature required for such a theory. This volume is guided by a fundamental question: How must nature be rethought so that human minds and freedom do not appear to be either impossible or inexplicable within it? Asked differently: How must the natural world itself be structured such that sapient subjects in all their distinctive peculiarities emerged from and continue to exist within this world? In A Weak Nature Alone, Johnston develops his transcendental materialist account of nature through engaging with and weaving together five main sources of inspiration: Hegelian philosophy, Marxist materialism, Freudian-Lacanian metapsychology, Anglo-American analytic neo-Hegelianism, and evolutionary theory and neurobiology. Johnston argues that these seemingly (but not really) strange bedfellows should be brought together so as to construct a contemporary ontology of nature. Through this ontology, nonnatural human subjects can be seen to arise in an immanent, bottom-up fashion from nature itself.
Описание: These lectures on the Epistles to the Romans and Ephesians by the noted Cambridge biblical scholar F. J. A. Описание: Originally published in 1931, this book provides an introduction to the problems of ultimate reality. Whittaker discusses the history and prospects of metaphysical philosophy, with particular reference to the works of Plato and Leibniz. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in metaphysics or Platonism.
Описание: Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914), American Scientist, Mathematician, and Logician, developed much of the logic widely used today. Using copies of his unpublished manuscripts, this book provides a comprehensive collection of Peirce’s writings on Phaneroscopy and the outlines of his project to develop a Science of Reasoning. The collection is focused on three main fields: Phaneroscopy, the science of observation, Semeiotic, the science of sign relations, and Logic, the science of inferences. Peirce understands all thought to be mediated in and through signs and its essence to be diagrammatic. The book serves as a timely contribution for the introduction of Peirce’s Phaneroscopy to the emerging research field of Image Sciences.
Описание: Since its commercialization in 1971, the microprocessor, a modern and integrated form of the central processing unit, has continuously broken records in terms of its integrated functions, computing power, low costs and energy saving status. Today, it is present in almost all electronic devices. Sound knowledge of its internal mechanisms and programming is essential for electronics and computer engineers to understand and master computer operations and advanced programming concepts.
This book in five volumes focuses more particularly on the first two generations of microprocessors, those that handle 4- and 8- bit integers. Microprocessor 1 - the first of five volumes - presents the computation function, recalls the memory function and clarifies the concepts of computational models and architecture. A comprehensive approach is used, with examples drawn from current and past technologies that illustrate theoretical concepts, making them accessible.
