Описание: Presents a collection of ten SAE International technical papers, covering the use of composite materials from various perspectives: overall multidisciplinary design methodology, weight and structural analysis, aerodynamic and thermal analysis, acoustics, lightening, reliability and sustainability considerations.
Описание: The book outlines why a fundamental paradigm shift is needed in the way these systems are designed and operated, and illustrates how a wide range of accepted human-factors approaches can be applied successfully to road transport to revolutionise the countermeasure design process.
Описание: This book demonstrates how to apply modern approaches to complex system control in practical applications involving knowledge-based systems. Moreover, specialised forms of knowledge-based systems (like e-learning, social network, and production systems) are introduced with a new formal approach to knowledge system modelling.

Описание: In general, several mathematical models can be designed in order to describe a biological or medical process and there is no unique criterion which model gives the best description. This book presents several of these models and shows applications of them to different biological and medical problems.

Описание: This book introduces a formalism for modeling complex and large-scale systems that merges Petri nets, differential equation systems, and object-oriented methods. It describes a method that starts from the requirements of a supervisory system and results in a proposal for such a system.

Описание: This book examines the modelling and analysis of the many types of ropes, linear fibre assemblies, with a focus on load extension behaviour. All the modelling is based on the Principle of Virtual Work and admissible modes of deformation.
Описание: Resilience engineering has consistently argued that safety is more than the absence of failures. This book presents a detailed and tested method that can be used to model how complex and dynamic socio-technical systems work, and understand both why things sometimes go wrong but also why they normally succeed.
When starting new airlines in response to government deregulation, entrepreneurs in the U.S. and Europe reduced some traditional service qualities (to reduce costs), concentrated on non-stop services between city pairs not already so connected, improved on-time performance, and offered low fares to win leisure travelers from the incumbents and to encourage more travel.
In recent developments, some of the new airlines have offered optional extras (at higher fares) to attract business travelers and entered major routes alongside the legacy carriers. Within both the U.S. and Europe, deregulation removed most geographical barriers to expansion by short-haul airlines. Later, limited deregulation spread to other world regions, where many short-haul routes connect city pairs in different countries, and where governments have retained traditional two-country mechanisms restricting who may fly. To gain access to domestic routes in other countries, some new airlines are setting up affiliate companies in neighboring countries, with each company legally controlled in the country of domicile. With air travel growing strongly, especially in Asia, a common result is intense, but potentially short-lived, competition on major routes. The recent developments give clear signposts to likely mid-term outcomes, and make this an opportune time to report on the new-airline scene.
The Airline Revolution will provide valuable economic analysis of this climate to students, airline professionals advancing to senior positions, public servants and others who provide advice to governments.
