Описание: This study discusses the modernization process of Egypt and Turkey from the beginning of the 20th century through The Cairo Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz and Cevdet Bey and Sons by Orhan Pamuk. These works of two Nobel Prize winning authors project the stories of three generations, reflecting the historical, social and cultural transformations Egypt and Turkey went through. In their generational novels, both, Mahfouz and Pamuk portray extended families that have close relationships which fade through time as each new generation moves away from the traditional lifestyles and tries to adopt a new way of life under the influences of the social and economic conditions of their countries.
This book analyses the way each succeeding generation operates in the process of transition from conservatism to modernity in Egypt and Turkey by contextualizing book texts and shedding light on the modernization experiences of these two countries.
Описание: The museum has become a vital strategic space for negotiating ownership of and access to knowledges produced in local settings. Museum as Process presents community-engaged "culture work" of a group of scholars whose collaborative projects consider the social spaces between the museum and community and offer new ways of addressing the challenges of bridging the local and the global. Museum as Process explores a variety of strategies for engaging source communities in the process of translation and the collaborative mediation of cultural knowledges. Scholars from around the world reflect upon their work with specific communities in different parts of the world – Australia, Canada, Ghana, Great Britain, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan and the United States. Each global case study provides significant insights into what happens to knowledge as it moves back and forth between source communities and global sites, especially the museum. Museum as Process is an important contribution to understanding the relationships between museums and source communities and the flow of cultural knowledge.

Описание: Business Process Management, a huge bestseller, has helped thousands of leaders and BPM practitioners successfully implement BPM projects, enabling them to add measurable value to their organizations. The book’s runaway success can be attributed partly to its overview of all major useful frameworks (such as LEAN and Six Sigma) without over-investment in one over another, and a unique emphasis on BPM’s interrelationship with organizational management, culture and leadership. Its common-sense approach teaches how BPM must be well-integrated across an entire business if it’s to be successful: augmented and aligned with other management disciplines. This highly anticipated fourth edition brings Jeston’s practicable frameworks and solutions up to date with the latest developments in BPM, including the robotics process automation, digital strategies and the changes necessary as a result of the impact of the quad generations in the workforce. This thoroughly revised and updated new edition includes: Enhanced BPM House noting the importance of traceability from strategy to execution activities New and revised case studies An analysis of the risks and benefits of robotic automation and cognitive computing. The book highlights that millennials will be 50% of the global workforce in 2020 and 67% by 2025—Jeston warns managers to ignore them at your peril. Business processes and the way work is performed must evolve! This book will prove to be an indispensable guide to any senior business executive or chief financial officer while providing practical BPM examples to undergraduate and postgraduate students alike.

Описание: Abstract: In order to take full advantage of the introduction of computer numerical control technology in camshaft grinding and post-process inspection, a closed loop control scheme is proposed. This strategy makes use of post-process inspection results to modify the commanded part geometry used in the grinding program. The commands are modified in order to minimize the lobe contour and relative timing errors. It is shown that using a control strategy comprised of feedforward and feedback elements, substantial improvements in cam contour accuracy can be attained. A system capable of automated reduction of inspection results, application of statistical methods, transformations between different coordinate systems, and production of modified commanded part geometry is presented. This system requires no off-l;ine calibration or learning of grinding machin positioning errors. Additionally, it offers advantages over such techniques, in that it is able to automatically adapt to changing process conditions. the sytem is general in nature and may be used for any camshaft design. Through application of this system, the time required to bring a new part into tolerance is greatly reduced. With such a system used to minimize contour errors, it is no longer necessary to optimize grinding parameters based on these errors. Rather, grinding parameters can be manipulated to optimize other important factors, such as metal removal rates and the corresponding process time. Implementation of this system on existing computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment is inexpensive. It requires only software necessary to produce the modified part geometry and limited hardware for file transfer. The required hardware is inexpensive and readily available.
