Depuis une dizaine d’annees, un nombre croissant de Q’eros migrent, principalement vers la ville de Cuzco. A partir d’enquetes ethnographiques effectuees entre 2011 et 2014, cet ouvrage demontre la necessite d’analyser la maniere dont une societe se represente le changement climatique afin de comprendre les interactions entre migrations et changement climatique. Par le biais d’une analyse des discours et des pratiques que les Q’eros maintiennent avec et au sein de leur environnement, cette etude revele que la dichotomie nature–culture sur laquelle reposent les etudes conventionnelles des effets du changement climatique ne permet pas de rendre compte de la maniere dont les Q’eros se representent le changement climatique.

Описание: The book describes the functions of water in Polish towns from the late Middle Ages to the beginning of the Early-Modern Era against a wide European background. It presents the issue of water supply in the context of the town as a complex social and economic organism, taking into account social relations, administration and power as well as living and working conditions. Describing water supply devices, the author reconstructs the ways in which the techniques were transferred to the Polish lands. She analyses municipal court books and documents concerning towns of various sizes in the Polish lands from the 14th to the 16th century, with particular emphasis on Krak?w. In addition, she also considers archaeological and iconographical sources. Her findings provide a new insight into the alimentary and hygienic uses of water, its importance for production and crafts, and its use as a source of energy, transport and communication. This is the first broad comparative presentation of the subject in Polish and European literature.

This book deals with the out-migration from the UNESCO designated Sundarban Biosphere Reserve in India. It focuses on the question whether out-migration is a consequence of environmental change or livelihood issues and development deficit. It investigates the processes of migration from a broad spectrum, exploring a wide range of economic, social, and demographic factors along with environmental stressors. The processes of migration studied and empirically illustrated include migration stream, migration pattern, reasons for migration, the nexus between migration and social network, aspiration and different human, economic and physical capital. The book adopts a modelistic approach called the Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA) to investigate whether migration from Sundarban is an environmental migration or not. In addition it uses the risk perception approach of people’s cognition or ‘affective imagery’ to examine the degree of perceived environmental risk in the means of living, especially farming and fishing, of the islanders of Sundarban.
