No one is like you. When I was a girl, I had no idea what it meant to be a strong woman or even a strong girl, because I wasn't getting that message from my family and my teachers. I grew up with low self-esteem issues and a whole lot of insecurity left over from childhood.
I blocked myself from who I truly am through my low self-esteem and disempowering behaviors that had learned from the culture I grew up in and from my early life programming. I didn't want to live that way anymore and as I studied psychology and becoming a writer, I knew I had to use my own voice to make an impact, to show the women of this world that we all deserve to have the power that we want and to create the lives we feel we deserve.
My book, BE A STRONG WOMAN: Stop Self-Sabotage, was my op-ed about what we do as a culture to disempower ourselves and disempower each other when we should be helping each other become stronger women.

In an original two year ethnographic study based in the South of England, Tanya Bunsell immersed herself into the world of female bodybuilders. By mapping these extraordinary women's lives, the research illuminates the pivotal spaces and essential lived experiences that make up the female bodybuilder. Whilst the women appear to be embarking on an 'empowering' radical body project for themselves, the consequences of their activity remains culturally ambivalent. This research exposes the 'Janus-faced' nature of female bodybuilding, exploring the ways in which the women negotiate, accommodate and resist pressures to engage in more orthodox and feminine activities and appearances.

Jennifer Lodine-Chaffey draws on a wide range of genres, from accounts of martyrdom to dramatic works, to explore not only the words of women executed in Tudor and Stuart England, but also the ways that writers represented female bodies as markers of penitence or deviance. A significant part of the execution spectacle—one used to assess the victim’s proper acceptance of death and godly repentance—was the final speech offered at the foot of the gallows or before the pyre. To ensure their final words held value for audiences, women adopted conventionally gendered language and positioned themselves as subservient and modest. The reception of women’s speeches, Lodine-Chaffey argues, depended on their performances of accepted female behaviors and language as well as physical signs of interior regeneration. Indeed, when women presented themselves or were represented as behaving in stereotypically feminine and virtuous ways, they were able to offer limited critiques of their fraught positions in society.
