Описание: In the second decade of the twenty first century the Russian Federation Long Range Aviation is undergoing a series of capability enhancements through the introduction of new long range strategic strike weapons, development of new long-range strategic missile carries - PAK DA and Tu-160M2 - and a deep modernisation of all three Cold War legacy strategic missile carrier/long range bombers resulting in the Tu-95MSM, Tu-160M2 (modernisation of Tu-160) and Tu-22M3M.The volume will draw on such information as is available to provide a picture of the Russian Federation strategic bomber roadmap as it stands in the second half of 2018. In regards to the PAK DA, information is naturally scarce as this program is shrouded in the highest levels of classification. While the volume is not intended to be a descriptive manual for the three Cold War legacy strategic missile carrier/bomber types - Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 - a brief description of the genesis, development and fielding of these weapon systems is provided. The volume sets out to detail the PAK DA and the evolution of the legacy Soviet era designs to the Tu-95MSM, Tu-22M3M and Tu-160M2 and associated weapons complexes intended for service into the 2040's and possibly beyond alongside the PAK DA. All technical information concerning aircraft and weapons, along with the majority of the graphic material, has been furnished by the respective design bureau, manufacturers, experimental agencies and the Ministry Of Defence of the Russian Federation.

Cruise missiles of past wars have meant the death of the delivery pilot. Recent technology today has replaced the pilot, but we speak very little of the history of how this lethal assault weapon came about, or how it played such an impressive role in the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Richard F. Kaufman, a chase pilot for the Navy's Regulus missile, recalls the birth and development of the cruise missile in World War II and how it became an American weapon of immense destruction. It came along at a critical time to become our primary weapon in the Pacific.
He shares the experiences of a navy missile chase pilot with mixed emotion. On the one hand, living a life of luxury with his family in a tropical Hawaiian paradise far away from the troubles of the real world, while on the other hand, preparing for his death as a Regulus missile delivery pilot in the event of war.
Join the author as he traces the development of cruise missiles, the role they played in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the rigors of the Cold War.

Based on secret transcripts of top-level diplomacy undertaken by the number-two Soviet leader, Anastas Mikoyan, to settle the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, this book rewrites conventional history. The "missiles of October" and "13 days" were only half the story: the nuclear crisis actually stretched well into November 1962 as the Soviets secretly planned to leave behind in Cuba over 100 tactical nuclear weapons, then reversed themselves because of obstreperous behavior by Fidel Castro. The highly-charged negotiations with the Cuban leadership, who bitterly felt sold out by Soviet concessions to the United States, were led by Mikoyan.
Adding personal crisis, Mikoyan's wife of more than 40 years died the day he arrived in Havana, yet he stayed to resolve the crisis through direct talks in Havana, New York, and Washington, amid constant communications with Moscow.
The author, Sergo Mikoyan, who served as his father's personal secretary during these travels, vividly recalls how the Soviet relationship with revolutionary Cuba began and how it was shaped by the crisis.

Описание: The 1973 Yom Kippur War rewrote the textbook on the tactics of modern armored warfare. Unlike the previous major Arab-Israeli war of 1967, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) faced an enemy that had invested heavily in modern Soviet weapon systems and tactics. Using detailed colour artwork and insightful analysis, this book explains how the effective use of the Soviet-supplied AT-3 Sagger (9M14 Malyutka) anti-tank missile allowed small Arab tank-killing teams to destroy Israeli armor at an astonishing rate.
It also analyses the tank that opposed it, the US-built M60A1, which had to fight for survival against the Arab Saggers, and shows how in both the Sinai and the Golan Heights, the IDF quickly learned that firepower and infantry/artillery cooperation were the keys to their survival.

Описание: This is the first history of the legendary US Army's HAWK missile system, the world's first mobile air-defense missile system, which saw service and combat around the world. Designed to counteract the threat posed by advanced 1950s Soviet-built aircraft, the first HAWK unit became operational in 1959. At its peak, it saw frontline service in the Far East, Panama, Europe, and in the Middle East.
Units were also used during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam War, and Persian Gulf War. In the hands of other nations, HAWK proved its efficacy in combat during the Arab-Israeli Wars, Iran-Iraq War, Chadian-Libyan War, and the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Credited with shooting down more than 100 aircraft during its combat career, the HAWK system was respected for its lethality.
Such was Soviet concern, that the USSR developed electronic jammers, anti-radiation missiles, and other countermeasures specifically to degrade its effectiveness. The US retired its HAWK systems soon after the Cold War ended in 1991 when air defense priorities shifted from aircraft to ballistic missile defense, yet a modernized version of the system remains in service to this day in many nations. Packed with archive photos and original artwork, this is the first book about the HAWK system.
Featuring research from HAWK technical and field manuals, interviews with HAWK veterans, and detailing the authors' personal experiences with HAWK missile units, it provides a comprehensive study of one of the most lethal and effective air missile systems of all time.
