Описание: Since the birth of our nation and the election of the first president, groups of organized plotters or individuals have been determined to assassinate the chief executive. From the Founding Fathers to the Great Depression, three presidents have been assassinated: Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, and William McKinley. However, unknown to the general public, almost all presidents have been threatened, put in danger, or survived “near lethal approaches” during their terms. Plotting to Kill the President reveals the numerous, previously untold incidents when assassins, plotters, and individuals have threatened the lives of American presidents, from George Washington to Herbert Hoover. Mel Ayton has uncovered these episodes, including an attempt to assassinate President Hayes during his inauguration ceremony, an attempt to shoot Benjamin Harrison on the streets of Washington, an assassination attempt on President Roosevelt at the White House, and many other incidents that have never been reported or have been covered up. Ayton also recounts the stories of Secret Service agents and bodyguards from each administration who put their lives in danger to protect the commander in chief. Plotting to Kill the President demonstrates the unsettling truth that even while the nation sleeps, those who would kill the president are often hard at work devising new schemes.

On April 22, 1865, Brevet Colonel H. L. Burnett was assigned to head the investigation into the murder of President Abraham Lincoln and the attempted murder of Secretary of State William H. Seward. Burnett orchestrated the collection of thousands of documents for the Military Commission’s trial of the conspirators. This deep archive of documentary evidence--consisting of letters, depositions, eyewitness accounts, investigative reports, and other documents--provides invaluable insight into the historical, cultural, and judicial context of the investigation. Only a fraction of the information presented in these documents ever made its way into the trial, and most of it has never been readily accessible. By presenting an annotated and indexed transcription of these documents, this volume offers significant new access to information on the events surrounding the assassination and a vast new store of social and political history of the Civil War era.
“With tears in my eyes I think it your duty to hang every rebel caught. I feel as bad as if was my own mother or father & will be one to volunteer to try & shoot every Southern man. May God have mercy on the man’s soul that done such a deed. With much Respect for our Country, I remain Weeping” --Anonymous letter, New York, April 15, 1865
“I know Booth. He was in the habit of coming to my place to shoot. . . . He shot well, and practiced to shoot with accuracy in every possible position. . . . He was a quick shot; always silent, reticent.” --Deposition of Benjamin Barker, Pistol Gallery proprietor

Of all the JFK assassination theories proposed over the years, Through The 'Oswald' Window is the first study of the event through the eyes of the actual assassin. The author was granted rare access to the so-called 'Oswald' window.
By standing in the shoes of the real assassin in the Book Depository, in essence looking over his shoulder, what the author saw was shocking and may change what the history books say about the JFK assassination.
The 404-page book reveals why a lone assassin at the infamous sixth-floor window could not have carried out the assassination of JFK on his own. Further, it casts doubt that it was Oswald who fired from the window named after him.
This FULL COLOR 'REVISED' EDITION presents a most disturbing JFK assassination conspiracy alliance that changed history in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The alliance outlined by the author has been validated by declassified files in 2017 and 2018.
It cuts through the maze of information and misinformation out there to answer not only why was JFK assassinated, but also who assassinated JFK, which continues to haunt the Kennedy family to this day.
Supported by more than 250 images as well as a unique look at the iconic full color Zapruder film, including a fascinating analysis of the several moments of controversy that still troubles America.
Through The 'Oswald' Window brings fresh insights into America's ultimate cold case
On November 22nd, 1963 the assassination of President John F. Kennedy set into motion a series of events that irrevocably changed American politics and culture. The media frenzy spawned by the controversy surrounding the death of JFK has since given way to a powerful public memory that continues to shape the way we understand politics, the 1960s, and the nation.
In The Assassination of John F. Kennedy: Political Trauma and American Memory, Alice George traces the events of Kennedy's assassination and Lyndon B. Johnson's subsequent ascension to the presidency. Covering both the political shifts of the time and the cultural fallout of the national tragedy, this book introduces students of the twenty-first century to both an iconic event and to the context in which that event was heralded as iconic. Drawing on newspaper articles, political speeches, letters, and diaries, George critically re-examines the event of JFK's death and its persistent political and cultural legacy.

Описание:
"A Hidden Indictment: What the Slaves and Freedmen Knew About the Lincoln Assassination," provides the reader with a brief history of the development of the country, including major civil war battles, and a new perspective about the facts and events leading up to and surrounding the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln as seen through the eyes and ears of Slaves and Freedmen. The book tells the story of an African-American enslaved woman (Mary Simms), who testified as one of the chief government prosecution witnesses against the Lincoln assassination conspirators. The author is believed to be a distant relative of Mary Simms.
"Frazer Walton revisits the Lincoln assassination conspiracy with a fresh look at the testimony of a slave whose ignored comments could have widened the investigation had she been listened to by authorities. Walton's book delves into the shadowy world of spies, double-dealers, and politicians during the American Civil War. Proving the theories he brings up may be impossible 150 years later, but his research into old records makes for interesting speculation." Clint Johnson, noted American Civil War author of eight books on the civil war, including his well-known book the "Pursuit."
"Frazer Walton has fashioned an inspirational book, a page turner that will leave the reader gasping and asking for more. He has resurrected hidden American history for our consideration. And he has done it in the form of a griping and trilling mystery that will hold you spell bound until the last page. It is a remarkable and complex story, as it tells the truth about the assassination and the facts surrounding it, a truth that for all these years has remained hidden." Mark Lane, was a famous trial attorney, New York state legislator, civil rights activist and author. He has written several New York Times Best sellers (Rush to Judgment and Plausible Denial) about the assassination of American President John F. Kennedy.

At 12.16am on Wednesday, June 5, 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy was shot and mortally wounded in the kitchen service pantry of the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles. A little over 24 hours later, he was pronounced dead.
A 24-year-old Palestinian immigrant, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, was captured in the pantry with a smoking gun in his hand. Eyewitnesses had seen him step out in front of Kennedy and begin shooting with a small calibre revolver. In April 1969, Sirhan was convicted of Robert Kennedy's murder and the wounding of five others. He was sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment. He has been in prison - often in solitary confinement - ever since.
The Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy is the result of more than 25 years' painstaking forensic work that challenges some of the assumptions and conclusions around the murder. The authors have scrutinised more than 100,000 official documents, located previously unknown recordings, and conducted original new interviews with key figures in the case.
They show that Sirhan could not have fired the fatal bullets, reveal detailed evidence of a murderous conspiracy involving organised crime, and disclose CIA documents detailing successful experiments to create a hypno-programmed political assassin. The book also unmasks the likely identity of one of the most enduring mysteries in the case - the infamous 'Girl in the Polka Dot Dress'.
