2018 Illumination Awards Medal Winner for Christian Ministry/Mission
The Christian life is not an easy road. In today's culture, it seems like a thousand voices tell us what to think, what to believe, who to follow, and what to do. As a pastor and counselor, Dr. Gil Stieglitz has had the privilege of talking with all kinds of people, who are either being drawn toward faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, or who have stepped out in faith but have many questions. Foundations: Building a Solid Christian Life answers many of the most basic questions about living in dynamic connection with God. It delves into four foundational blocks for what it means to live as a Christian and how to interact with God through Jesus Christ.
Block 1: Jesus and the Christian Life
Who is Jesus Christ? What happens when a person first becomes a Christian? What is the evidence of true conversion and salvation?
Block 2: Growing as a Follower of Christ
How does a Christian learn to follow Christ? What benefits come from being a disciple? What is baptism? How does a Christian think? How does Christianity answer the basic questions of life?
Block 3: The Wonder of the Church
What is the church and why is it so important? What does is contribute personally and to society as a whole? What are vital actions that only the church can take and what happens when it does?
Block 4: Finding and Living in the Will of God
All people want a life of meaning, purpose, significance, and love. What does it mean to live in the center of God's will and how do you find it? Why don't people pursue God's will to the fullest?
Foundations: Building a Solid Christian Life is perfect for the new believer or anyone with questions about Christianity. It can be experienced as a personal study or in a small group format. We recommend reading each chapter one after the other, like blocks that build upon one another. Each one is crucial to your growth and enjoyment of the Christian life. If you have been a Christian for a long time, or you are just taking a look at the Christian life, jump in and start building a solid foundation for right thinking about the Christian faith.

Positive mentoring relationships are held to be essential to the formation of strong Christian leaders--but why? How can theological and biblical insights inform mentoring relationships? And what do these vital relationships look like across a range of Christian experience?
Opening multiple angles of vision on the practice of mentoring, Dean K. Thompson and D. Cameron Murchison here present a group of eminent scholars who explore mentoring from biblical-theological perspectives, within the context of diverse national and international communities, and across generations.

The book sets the vital work of a Bishop within an ecclesiological framework: the Bishop in the Anglican Communion, within the Church of Christ, within the purposes of God.

Tackling TULIP will help Christians understand the errors of Calvinism and why this theological system should be rejected and refuted. This book includes a helpful investigation into the key passages that Calvinists use to defend their beliefs. Romans 9, Ephesians 1, and John 6 are examined in light of the Calvinistic interpretation and are not seen to teach what Calvinists assert. The theological errors that Calvinism presents are also exposed. Questions like "Do we have free will?" and "Did Christ die for everyone?" are answered in the affirmative by both church history and biblical revelation. Finally, the practical problems of Calvinism are explained. A belief in Calvinism eliminates the possibility for Christians to have assurance of salvation and tends to diminish the importance of holy living. Tackling TULIP will equip the body of Christ to defend against the erroneous theology of Calvinism.
Описание: Church leaders frequently encounter tensions and conflict, especially when facing change. Building on extensive experience of leading churches at times of change, Tomlinson shows how through critical theological reflection and modelling good practice church leaders can facilitate church life that is grounded and transformed by the love of God.
Описание: Designed for ministry internship, practicum, and theological field education courses, A Guide to Theological Reflection by Jim Wilson and Earl Waggoner guides ministers-in-training through the key component of fruitful ministry experience, honest and insightful theological reflection.
Описание: Since 1993, forty-nine theological seminaries have created opportunities for high school students to participate in on-campus High School Theology Programs (HSTPs) that invite them to engage in serious biblical and theological study. Many of the young people who take part in these programs go on to become pastoral or lay leaders in their churches. What has made these programs so successful -- especially given the well-documented "crisis of faith" among young people today?
In this book thirteen contributors -- many of whom have created or led one of these innovative theology programs -- investigate answers to this question. They examine the pedagogical practices the HSTPs have in common and explore how they are contributing to the leadership of the church. They then show how the lessons gleaned from these successful programs can help churches, denominations, and seminaries reimagine both theological education and youth ministry.
