Описание: Home to Kentucky, the follow up to Thomas' McCoy's riveting historical drama, The McCoys: Before the Feud, will not disappoint readers who love a good old-fashioned tale of adventure, romance, action, and family honor.
Kansas, 1865. After retrieving the cache of money that belonged to the south, the McCoys begin to rebuild their lives after significant losses from the Civil War. Amid the grief of their war-torn homeland, and in the midst of their grit and determination to build their future, the second adventure begins for the feisty McCoy family. Family bonds are strengthened along the long winding wagon ride throughout the great American west, as the realities of post-Civil War life make Home to Kentucky a moving and meaningful saga of love and family connection in a budding new world.
After the Northern Army unlawfully stole the wealth of the south, the men retrieve what is rightfully theirs and begin their journey home. Now, four of the McCoys are on the road home to Kentucky. But they must protect their newfound wealth by avoiding attention, and outwitting the ubiquitous and violent highwaymen. Using their military and mountain skills, plus their courage and family strength, the men push homeward along a dangerous road. On the way, they meet two women in need of help and between them all, they form a bond so strong, nothing can tear them apart, not even the hazards left behind after the bloody and hard-fought Civil War.
The McCoy family begin to plan not just how they should use the coins they retrieved, but how to outwit the Pinkerton detectives and the law that is hellbent on capturing them. Ingenuity and cunning, born of the McCoy family loyalty and years of living a hardscrabble life, have taught the McCoy clan how to use these traits to ensure their own protection as they rebuild their lives anew upon the foundation of their reclaimed wealth.
Home to Kentucky is the second book in The McCoys: Before the Feud saga of historical Western novels. Thomas' McCoy's riveting literary tapestry of fact and fiction sheds new light on the saga of the McCoy family in this deeply and profoundly written book that promises action and surprise at every turn.

An examination of the life and work of Alexander McCaul and his impact on Jewish-Christian relations In Missionaries, Converts, and Rabbis, David B. Ruderman considers the life and works of prominent evangelical missionary Alexander McCaul (1799-1863), who was sent to Warsaw by the London Society for the Promotion of Christianity Amongst the Jews. He and his family resided there for nearly a decade, which afforded him the opportunity to become a scholar of Hebrew and rabbinic texts. Returning to England, he quickly rose up through the ranks of missionaries to become a leading figure and educator in the organization and eventually a professor of post-biblical studies at Kings College, London. In 1837, McCaul published The Old Paths, a powerful critique of rabbinic Judaism that, once translated into Hebrew and other languages, provoked controversy among Jews and Christians alike. Ruderman first examines McCaul in his complexity as a Hebraist affectionately supportive of Jews while opposing the rabbis. He then focuses his attention on a larger network of his associates, both allies and foes, who interacted with him and his ideas: two converts who came under his influence but eventually broke from him; two evangelical colleagues who challenged his aggressive proselytizing among the Jews; and, lastly, three Jewish thinkers—two well-known scholars from Eastern Europe and a rabbi from Syria—who refuted his charges against the rabbis and constructed their own justifications for Judaism in the mid-nineteenth century. Missionaries, Converts, and Rabbis reconstructs a broad transnational conversation between Christians, Jews, and those in between, opening a new vista for understanding Jewish and Christian thought and the entanglements between the two faith communities that persist in the modern era. Extending the geographical and chronological reach of his previous books, Ruderman continues his exploration of the impact of Jewish-Christian relations on Jewish self-reflection and the phenomenon of mingled identities in early modern and modern Europe.

Описание: Swallows and Hawke is the compelling story of cricket`s second-oldest rivalry, exploring 15 English cricket tours to South Africa. It juxtaposes sensational action on the pitch with a kaleidoscope of player experiences - in jail or chased by rhinos - all framed within an analysis of racism, apartheid and African resistance.
Choosing Life to the Fullest is about waking up and thinking great, inviting Jesus into our day, and finding ourselves in His identity. Amazing repetitive thoughts are key to this process.

Описание:
The England cricket team is playing Australia in the Second Ashes Test Match at Lord's, the World's most famous cricket ground. At one end of the ground stands the pavilion. For over a hundred years, it has played host to some of the greatest names in the game. However, within its walls and beneath its floors live a collection of less celebrated cricketers and their families. Compo, Don, Gubby, CMJ, Mrs. Heyhoe, and others are members of the pavilion's mouse colony. They live happily side by side with the visiting spectators, scavenging what they need. All this changes one night, when a combination of events threaten their way of life and their home.
