Описание: The is a monographic study of Sigurd Lewerentz (1885-1975), one of the major architects of the Swedish Modern School, who developed his own distinctive response to the most important architectural movements of the 20th century. This volume represents an original and comprehensive study in English, with a full analysis of unbuilt projects as well as completed buildings, such as the St Knut and St Gertrud Churches in the Malmo Cemetery (1916), the restoration of the Uppsala Cathedral (1947-55), and the St Peter Church in Klippan (1962-6). Sigurd Lewerentz was born in Sweden in 1885. He first studied engineering at the Polytechnic in Gotherburg and then architecture at the Art Academy in Stockholm. After a period of apprenticeship in Germany, he opened a studio with Thorsten Stubelius with whom he worked till 1917. Afterwards he continued his own practice, often collaborating with other architects. During his long career he realized many different projects and distinguished himself in landscape architecture with works such as the extraordinary project for Stockholm Cemetery, realized in collaboration with Gunnar Asplund. The first section of the volume includes a critical essay by Colin St John Wilson and a previously unpublished essay on the work of the Swedish master by Nicola Flora, Paolo Giardiello and Gennaro Postiglione. The central section contains a catalogue of Lewerentz's works - about 150 designs and constructions, in chronological order, are presented through detailed descriptions and illustrations, both photographs and drawings. A complete list of works and a bibliography based on research in the archives of Stockholm's Museum of Architecture conclude the volume.

Under that vision, Egypt, Jordan and the six Gulf monarchies-together with Israel-would isolate Iran diplomatically. The second plank of this strategy was anchored in the so-called "Maximum Pressure" campaign, which sought for all practical purposes to expedite the collapse of Iran's economy as part of an effort to strengthen Washington's standing vis- -vis Tehran. The third plank focused on solving the Israel-Palestinian conflict. These dynamics, the Trump-administration reasoned, would help set the stage for the renegotiation of the Iran agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.Trump's vision, however, faced immediate resistance-not from Iran or its regional proxies, but rather from some of Washington's very own Gulf partners when they imposed a blockade on Qatar only weeks after his Riyadh address. While the Gulf states and Israel are indeed drawing closer, it is not primarily driven by fear of Iran but rather by inter-GCC rivalry, including in Washington, where an inexperienced administration had to dedicate significant political capital to solve the Gulf crisis.
