Описание: In these two classic essays of feminist literature, Woolf argues passionately for women`s intellectual freedom and their role in challenging the drive towards fascism and conflict. She raises questions concerning militarism, education, and social and gender inequality that are relevant to this day.
Описание: This volume is a synthesis of economic, political, and cultural theories of value. David Graeber re-examines a century of anthropological thought about value and exchange and argues that projects of cultural comparison are in a sense necessarily revolutionary projects.
Описание: "Wachetecuma's personal account of her extraordinary spiritual odyssey provides insight for all of us who are travelers on the journey of understanding. In this vivid narrative, she offers a rare glimpse into the astonishing life of a modern day American healer in a style that is light-hearted, yet profound." -Rebecca Gearhart, Ph.D., Professor of Anthropology, Chair, Dept. of Sociology & Anthropology, Illinois Wesleyan University What are the answers to the unanswerable? The question is as old as time, as is the journey of those who have chosen to set their feet on various and diverse pathways to true understanding. Wachetecuma's personal path to Native American spirituality unfolded over a span of more than 60 years, though dreams, visions, and inspiration. The story of her journey is told both in her own words and in the words of the Old Ones. Years ago, she met a Shaman, who became her mentor. For three years their paths were as one; they served the Old Ones as Hollow Bones Healers, growing through ever-greater insight and understanding, to a powerful sense of purpose, a connection to the Universal All. Wachetecuma encourages others to trust that still small voice within, to open to their hearts, to disregard detractors, and to faithfully follow their true path, 'walking their talk.' "Never doubt that the path you are traveling whether a path of your personal understanding, or the Good Red Road is not just the right path for you; it is the only path for you." -Wachetecuma Publisher's website: http: //sbprabooks.com/Wachetecuma
Описание: What if being a mother is one of our highest callings? An employer can have dozens, hundreds or thousands of employees, yet your children only get one mother. This book is a guide to help encourage you to be the greatest mother you can be, while calling on Yah to give you strength, courage, and joy. It is a 40 day journey that will help you be strong as you face the various challenges of motherhood, with a sharp focus on seeing your calling through scripture. You are anointed by God to love, teach, train, disciple, discipline and send out the children He has given you. YOU ARE! Going through this devotional while fasting simultaneously will bring a level of power and deliverance that cannot be obtained any other way. Not because of the book, but because God said that some deliverances we need can ONLY happen when we fast and pray. Of course, fasting is NOT a requirement to read this book! However, I am compelled to share the tremendous impact that fasting can have when you are trying to grow spiritually at a moment in time of your life, or if you need great breakthrough or deliverance If you have friends who are also mothers, it may be fun to go through the devotional and fast together. Having someone to talk with and pray through the topics with may help enrich the experience. But if you do not have anyone to go through it with, I trust that you will still get what you need and Yah will walk with you. Resist the urge to read ahead. The book is designed to give you food for thought to meditate, and really pray about. So read it one day at a time. Read it with a journal to write down any thoughts, questions or ideas that may stir in your mind. This will help you chart personal applications and remember your thoughts down the line. I pray that you would experience a life changing breakthrough from Gods word as it relates to being a Godly mother. It is a high calling that changes the world.

Описание: Explores changing German memories of World War II, analysing the construction of narratives in the postwar period, including the depiction of the bombing of individual German cities. The book offers a corrective notion rising in the late 1990s notion that discussions of the Allied bombing were long overdue, showing that the bombing war was in fact a central strand of German memory and identity.

Описание: In No One's Witness Rachel Zolf activates the last three lines of a poem by Jewish Nazi holocaust survivor Paul Celan—“No one / bears witness for the / witness”—to theorize the poetics and im/possibility of witnessing. Drawing on black studies, continental philosophy, queer theory, experimental poetics, and work by several writers and artists, Zolf asks what it means to witness from the excessive, incalculable position of No One. In a fragmentary and recursive style that enacts the monstrous speech it pursues, No One's Witness demonstrates the necessity of confronting the Nazi holocaust in relation to transatlantic slavery and its afterlives. Thinking along with black feminist theory's notions of entangled swarm, field, plenum, chorus, No One's Witness interrogates the limits and thresholds of witnessing, its dangerous perhaps. No One operates outside the bounds of the sovereign individual, hauntologically informed by the fleshly no-thingness that has been historically ascribed to blackness and that blackness enacts within, apposite to, and beyond the No One. No One bears witness to becomings beyond comprehension, making and unmaking monstrous forms of entangled future anterior life.

Описание: Pobrecitos, a word meaning Poor Ones, is a collection of poems and illustrations about the poor of the world, whether they be poor in physical resources or lacking social or spiritual support. The writer is a retired psychologist who reflects on chance encounters and observations with street venders, visits to churches, coffee shop encounters and rides on trains in back-country regions throughout the world. The poems are illustrated by two young women who see the same dilemmas of the world with fresh eyes and clarity of youth. Survivors of war, neglect and depleted spirit are held up and honored in this poem-memoir collection. This is a book to ponder and a way to see beyond the surface of the world's problems in a unique way, offering hope and honesty for all of us to reflect on the poor, the pobrecitos, wherever they are and however they find themselves.

Описание: Many advocates of all-black male schools (ABMSs) argue that these institutions counter black boys’ racist emasculation in white, “overly” female classrooms. This argument challenges racism and perpetuates antifeminism. Keisha Lindsay explains the complex politics of ABMSs by situating these schools within broader efforts at neoliberal education reform and within specific conversations about both "endangered” black males and a “boy crisis” in education. Lindsay also demonstrates that intersectionality, long considered feminist, is in fact a politically fluid framework. As such, it represents a potent tool for advancing many political agendas, including those of ABMSs supporters who champion antiracist education for black boys while obscuring black girls’ own race and gender-based oppression in school. Finally, Lindsay theorizes a particular means by which black men and other groups can form antiracist and feminist coalitions even when they make claims about their experiences that threaten bridge building. The way forward, Lindsay shows, allows disadvantaged groups to navigate the racial and gendered politics that divide them in pursuit of productive-and progressive-solutions. Far-thinking and boldly argued, In a Classroom of Their Own explores the dilemmas faced by professionals and parents in search of equitable schooling for all students-black boys and otherwise.
