Описание: William Duggan`s "Strategic Intuition" explained how innovation really happens in business and other fields and how that matches what modern neuroscience tells us about how creative ideas form in the human mind. In his new book, "Creative Strategy," Duggan offers a step-by-step guide to help individuals and organizations put that same strategy? to work for their own innovations. Duggan shows how creative strategy follows the natural three-step method of the human brain: breaking down a problem into parts, searching for past examples, and creating a new combination to solve the problem. He then explains how to follow these steps to innovate in business and any other field as an individual, a team, or a whole company. The crucial middle step--the search for past examples--takes readers beyond their own brain to a "what-works scan" of what others have done within and outside of the company, industry, and country. Duggan also illustrates creative strategy through real-world cases of innovation that use the same method, from Netflix to Thomas Edison, from Google to Henry Ford. He further demonstrates how to integrate creative strategy into other methods you might currently use, such as Porter`s Five Forces or Design Thinking.

Описание:
As the economies of western countries move from primarily resource-based to knowledge-based, and trade liberalization limits what governments can do through direct action, the landscape of innovation is changing and policymakers must react accordingly. This exciting new book examines the challenges that policy makers face in responding to a new environment. The book addresses how governments are now seeking to drive innovation through new forms of R&D policies, through public procurement, skills development, entrepreneurship and innovation culture to name but a few of the approaches.
Innovation Policy Challenges for the 21st Century
explores these and other contemporary issues in innovation, reviewing the state of the art literature and consolidating current thinking at the frontiers of innovation. The volume debates and presents scattered and anonymous material in a coherent way, with a particular focus is on 'hot topics' in the field of innovation studies that have been previously under-researched. The book is divided into four key themes: government as a key actor in the innovation process, entrepreneurs as innovators, skills and competences required to maintain and improve innovation performance in Europe and finally, the wider context in which innovation policy develops.

Описание:
This book develops important new insights into the conditions that enable effective collaborations between arts and humanities researchers and SMEs in the creative economy. Drawing on the work of Creativeworks London, an AHRC-funded Knowledge Exchange Hub for the Creative Economy, this is an in-depth study of how co-created and collaborative research projects work on the ground and will be of immense value to all these audiences. Chapters by researchers and practitioners examine a range of collaborative research projects supported by Creativeworks London’s vouchers, which cover a large number of creative industry sectors and academic disciplines. The book identifies key learning from these projects that has wider relevance for academics, funders, policy makers, and SMEs in the creative economy.

Описание: This book focuses on the question of whether and how civil society may contribute to policy innovation. As the focus of civil society research is often more on the constraints on civil society by the state and less on the agency and effects of civil society organisations the authors provide a fresh and fruitful perspective.
There is wide consensus on the importance of knowledge for economic growth and local development patterns. This book proposes a view of knowledge as a collective, systemic and evolutionary process that enables agents and social systems to overcome the challenges of the limits to growth. It brings together new conceptual and empirical contributions, analysing the relationship between demand and supply factors and the rate and direction of technological change. It also examines the different elements that compose innovation systems.
The Economics of Knowledge, Innovation and Systemic Technology Policy provides the background for the development of an integrated framework for the analysis of systemic policy instruments and their mutual interaction the socio-political and economic conditions of the surrounding environment. These aspects have long been neglected in innovation policy, as policymakers, academics and the business community, have mostly emphasized the benefits of supply side strategies. However, a better understanding of innovation policies grafted on a complexity-based approach calls for the appreciation of the mutual interactions between both supply and demand aspects, and it is likely to improve the actual design of policy measures.
This book will help readers to understand the foundations and working of demand-driven innovation policies by stressing the importance of compent and smart demand.

Описание: The purpose of this ground-breaking book is to inspire the principle of innovation as a permeating program for Europe’s societies. After demonstrating early success from the realization of a single market and single currency, the European cooperation process is falling short of delivering much needed results in policy areas which are key for sustainable economic growth and employment, notably innovation policy. Written by authors involved in an independent tripartite High Level Group on EU innovation policy management, Revolutionising EU Innovation Policy analyses the principle causes and offers solutions in order to increase both efficacy and democratic accountability. Presenting the benefits of an overarching innovation policy, the authors draw attention to issues that have been overlooked by research and technology based approaches to innovation, for example culture and education. Importantly, the book examines the interplay between EU innovation policies and the demands of businesses, enterprises, and social and political organizations to fully deploy their innovation potential.
