Описание: Designed with the needs of both undergraduate and graduate students in mind, Organometallic Chemistry, Third Edition, covers the fundamentals of organometallic chemistry by presenting seminal experiments, analyzing real data, and offering the most comprehensive problem sets available. The text opens with careful explanations of the structure and bonding of organometallic compounds, providing a uniquely accessible introduction to the subject for undergraduate students. Later chapters build on this foundation with in-depth coverage of more advanced topics such as organometallic reaction mechanisms, catalysis, carbene complexes, metathesis, applications of organometallic chemistry to organic synthesis, and bioorganometallic chemistry.

Описание: This important work is based on the editors` symposium at the 2005 ACS meeting in Washington, DC. The contents include an emphasis on main-group polymers, including boron. This book will be required reading for scientists in a number of disciplines including chemical engineers and physics researchers.
Описание: Photosensitization and photocatalysis refer to processes by which permanent chemical transformations are induced on substrates (organic/inorganic) by radiation to which the substrates themselves are transparent. Such transformations can be highly specific, very efficient, and occur under mild conditions. Herein lies the power of photochemical methods for possible applications in the field of conversion and storage of solar energy. This book provides a recent survey of the progress in this important area in catalysis, with an emphasis on inorganic complexes and organometallic compounds as the key light aborbers. The book is organized in three parts: fundamentals, followed by applications. Discussions cover a wide variety of photosensitized or photocatalyzed reactions: decomposition of water, reduction of CO2 and CO; spectral sensitization in photoelectrochemical cells; transformations (oxidation, reduction, isomerization, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, carbonylation, etc.) of organics such as alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, etc. In view of the variety of systems (sensitizers, substrates) and the topics covered, the volume is unique in the field of photochemistry and will appeal to academic and industrial researchers in various subdisciplines of chemistry, material science and catalysis.

Описание: ___ -"S, . . C"'O, . . . P""E This non-critical compilation of literature data on organic drivatives of arsenic, antimony, and bismuth, reported after 1936, was prepared to provide an easy reference to the methods of their synthesis and to their physical and chemical properties. Biological properties of the organic derivatives of these three elements were not considered. The presence volume is based upon Chemical Abstracts (CA), Volume 31 (1937) through Volume 53(1959), and upon "Current Chemical Papers," published by the Chemical Society (London), issues for January through June 1960. For references published prior to 1937 the reader is referred to "Die Chemie der metall-organischen Verbindugen/' by E. Krause and A. vor. Grosse, Verlag von Gebrlider Borntraeger, Berlin, 1937. It should be pointed out that only compounds containing at least one carbon- arsenic, carbon-antimony, and carbon-bismuth bond, respectively, are included in the survey. HIGHLIGHTS The discovery of the chemotherapeutic efficacy of monosodium- arsanilate, 3,3'-diamino-4,4' -dihydroxyarsenobenzene, and 3-amino-4,4'-dihydroxy-3'- (sulfinomethylamino)arsenobenzene sodium salt (Atoxyl, Salvarsan, and Neosalvarson, respectively) provided inpetus to extensive research of organoarsenicals, which slakened only after the discovery of antibiotics. After 1936, a great variety of substituted arenearsonic and diarylarsinic acids was prepared and reduced to various types of trivalent arsenic derivatives, Further modifications of the Bart method were made, and aryldiazonium fluoroborates, chlorozincates, and chloroferrates, which are more stable than aryldiazonium chlorides, were introduced as the arylat- ing agents in the preparation of aromatic derivatives of arsenic.

Описание: Although accurate data for organo derivatives are lacking, strengths of bonds to other elements probably decrease in the order: M-F> M-O > M-CI > M-H ~ M-N ~ M-S ~ M-Br > M-I, while for a particular element X, the order is: Si-X > Ge-X > Sn-X > Pb-X.
