Описание: This report discusses opportunities for safe and environment-friendly agriculture products in the Greater Mekong Subregion and highlights the Siem Reap Action Plan, 2018–2022. As the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) has made considerable progress in food security, addressing health, safety, and environmental concerns is also essential. The strategy and action plan will strengthen the commitment to food security, increase market access for small producers, and ensure inclusive food safety for the GMS. It aims at achieving the GMS vision of being a leading global supplier of safe and environment-friendly agriculture products through four pillars: policies, infrastructure, knowledge, and marketing.
Описание: This report examines the environmental situation in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) based on a 10-year environmental performance assessment.The assessment was conducted by the GMS Environment Operations Center, using the driver–pressure–state–impact–response model to examine the consequences of rapid economic development in the subregion, identify the major natural resource and environmental issues, and determine the effectiveness of responses by the GMS member countries. During the assessment period, the GMS Core Environment Program supported country efforts to address the subregion’s natural resources and environmental management challenges with its goal of creating an “environmentally friendly and climate-resilient GMS Economic Cooperation Program.”

This proposed health impact assessment (HIA) framework recognizes these SEZs and economic corridors as economic engines of the subregion and aims to maximize benefits for all. The framework aims to provide enhanced guidance for identifying, mitigating, and managing health risks and impacts of unprecedented industrial and economic development in these SEZs, and seeks to address transboundary health issues associated with mobile and migrant worker populations. It proposes HIA as an effective SEZ management support tool to achieve optimum benefits for businesses and associated communities alike.
