Описание: William Duggan`s "Strategic Intuition" explained how innovation really happens in business and other fields and how that matches what modern neuroscience tells us about how creative ideas form in the human mind. In his new book, "Creative Strategy," Duggan offers a step-by-step guide to help individuals and organizations put that same strategy? to work for their own innovations. Duggan shows how creative strategy follows the natural three-step method of the human brain: breaking down a problem into parts, searching for past examples, and creating a new combination to solve the problem. He then explains how to follow these steps to innovate in business and any other field as an individual, a team, or a whole company. The crucial middle step--the search for past examples--takes readers beyond their own brain to a "what-works scan" of what others have done within and outside of the company, industry, and country. Duggan also illustrates creative strategy through real-world cases of innovation that use the same method, from Netflix to Thomas Edison, from Google to Henry Ford. He further demonstrates how to integrate creative strategy into other methods you might currently use, such as Porter`s Five Forces or Design Thinking.

Описание: From the lens of holistic systems theory, this book discusses strategic management adapted to evolving convergence in an era of advanced ICT from the viewpoint of the major management elements of strategy, organizations, technologies, operations and leadership. To discuss corporate change in response to such advanced technology in a theoretical and empirical manner, it is necessary not only to analyze and consider individual management elements such as strategy, organizations, technologies, operations and leadership in a piece-meal manner but also to determine the research issues from a framework based on a holistic management perspective through systems theory including interaction between and among the respective individual management elements (from micro to macro elements).Applying both innovation theory and capabilities theory, this book presents a new framework and knowledge for holistic strategic management from a systems theory lens that focuses on the issue of how major corporations can develop capabilities to achieve strategic innovation in response to the impacts of advanced ICT on corporate management.

Описание: The main focus of this book is innovation for developing countries: what is the innovation for, what are the current conditions of the innovation, and how to effectively innovate in developing economies. It contains the latest insights and analyses of innovation based on intensive interviews as well as primary and secondary data of manufacturing firms in developing countries, Vietnam and Laos in particular. Innovation requires something new. Integration of deep understanding of innovation and econometric analyses are a “new combination” in this book, which contrasts with other, similar books in the field. This new approach may benefit policy makers as well as scholars and firms in poor countries. The main points of the book are summarized as follows: First, for most poor countries “learning innovation” is considered the key to economic growth rather than “leading-edge innovation”, which is a more popular theme in similar books on innovation. Second, an overwhelming majority of innovations currently used in poor countries are developed in advanced countries, so technology transfer and learning from the latter are a fundamental source of innovation in the former. Third, a surprisingly high rate of firms (around 50%) reported that they introduced new or significantly improved products or processes in poor countries, and this high innovation rate is a great benefit to be enhanced by government policies. Fourth, the common factors driving innovation of manufacturing firms in Vietnam and Laos are (1) human capital, (2) social capital, and (3) innovation in the past. Fifth, the impact of innovation on firm performance is found to be mixed in these countries. Sixth, so far almost all studies on innovation have focused on product or process innovation, but additional light is shed here on organizational innovation.

Описание:
In the ever-changing world of IT, the challenging mission is to create and maintain innovation culture and align innovation activities with company strategy. This book is giving a fresh perspective on innovation management activities in IT environment using examples from startups and companies like Cisco, Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Lufthansa Systems, Worldline, Amdocs, Telefonica, Enea and others.
The book answers the following questions:
Software development environment gives many possibilities for innovation, but also put some constraints on the innovation process. How this can be bypassed with bringing success to the company?
Using an agile process in the area of software development with its short cycles, it is a challenge to create and maintain innovation culture. How to bring innovation challenges closer to developers and use their experience and vision to create new projects?
How to inspire software engineers on incremental, often small but useful and money-saving improvements?
Fourth industrial revolution changes companies from the inside and it brings changes to common agile product management process in IT. What are the effects on innovation management and what are mechanisms for success in new environment?

Описание: Carsten-Constantin Soeldner’s investigation enables embedded systems firms to understand how they can open their systems to gain access to the ideas and solutions of external users and developers. Similar to smartphones with their large number of apps, firms are now beginning to open their embedded systems towards open innovation. Despite the large potential to increase innovativeness, firms face a variety of obstacles, such as the presence of safety and real-time constraints or the need to protect intellectual property. Carsten-Constantin Soeldner identified a variety of approaches how firms can still open their systems while not violating these constraints. The book is built on four different studies which comprehensively illuminate open innovation strategies for embedded systems.

Описание: This book provides essential insights into how to rapidly and safely develop new sustainable products, no matter whether it is in the private sector, the public sector or the non-profit sector, and regardless of the specific national or business culture. The principles discussed were distilled from experiences and insights gained in numerous practical innovation endeavors, and from insider action research in connection with ongoing development, change management, and innovation projects in various areas and branches of the business world and non-commercial sector. In short, the practical work and research has revealed that, regardless of the specific product and/or business to be developed, clear advantages can be gained by using dynamic or agile methods based on modern theories. These advantages include: reduced risk of failure, shorter time to market, less money and effort spent, better outcome solutions, etc. than when classical methods are used. Accordingly, the book also highlights the differences between the classical/traditional and dynamic mindset and approaches. It offers suggestions on how to think, organize, lead, and act in order to excel in an increasingly complex and non-linear world. The more you can assimilate the theories, principles and methods – and integrate them in the culture you operate in – the greater the benefits will be for you and your organization.
Описание: Economists have long argued that developing countries have the potential for high productivity growth if they adopt existing technologies and apply them to the local context. This report brings to bear a battery of new data sources to explore the innovation ""paradox"": despite the potential for very high returns, developing countries invest far less in adopting and inventing new processes and products than advanced countries. The report posits three broad factors underlying this paradox. The first is that firms in developing countries lack the managerial and technological capabilities to undertake meaningful innovation projects. This implies that conventional innovation policies are unlikely to be effective, and moving firms up the ""capabilities escalator"" becomes central. A second factor is that firm capability is only one of many critical ingredients - for instance, access to financial markets, macroeconomic stability, and imported machinery - that are complements to the innovation process, and whose absence lowers the return to innovation in developing countries. This implies that cultivating an effective innovation system will be a greater policy challenge, and that standard measures of innovation performance, such as research and development or GDP, are misleading. Finally, government capabilities required to redress these two points are also correspondingly weaker in developing countries, so building these capabilities needs to be explicitly integrated in formulating innovation policy.
