About the Author
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and prior to enrolling in medical school, my job search brought me back home to Atlanta where I accepted a position as an Ophthalmic Medical Scribe. I had no prior experience as a scribe or in the healthcare field, but I knew that quickly improving my understanding of ophthalmology would be essential for my success.
I searched the web to obtain every piece of relevant ophthalmology information that I could find, and I spent hours experimenting with the functionalities of the eye clinic's electronic medical record to better prepare myself for my new role. However, I found that it took a significant amount of time and effort to sift through the excessive online information before I was able to hone in on the relevant material.
Due to the lack of designated ophthalmic medical scribe training resources and the vast amount of irrelevant information online, I decided that the creation of The Ophthalmic Scribe Manual was warranted. Описание: This book investigates the nature of regional variation in the early Chinese writing system through bamboo manuscripts and inscriptions dating from the late pre-imperial China (5th-3rd centuries BCE). Diachronic and synchronic comparisons of graphic details show that none of the well-recognized regional varieties developed independently from one another. Furthermore, differences in graphic components can be accounted for as alternations of graphs that are compatible in their semantic or phonetic values. The phonological systems underlying various regional orthographies unanimously point to a single coherent sound system with some mixture of dialect pronunciations. This strongly suggests that all the late pre-imperial regional scripts derived from a kind of orthographic meta-system based on one spoken standard language. This orthography and its phonological systems should reasonably be dated to ca. 9th century BCE, just about the time when the earliest known Chinese lexicography "Book of Scribe Zhou" (ca. 830 BCE) was written. The conclusions of this book have further implications on reading and understanding manuscript texts in general as well as on using them as data for linguistic studies.

Harper is able to demonstrate the following aspects of the Barberini version: when compared with the other Greek versions, it appears that the Barberini version was originally independent of the Septuagint but has been influenced by it in transmission. The Barberini version was probably translated no earlier than the later books of the Septuagint (that is, around the first century BC), and no later than the mid-third century AD. The style, methods of translation, and exegetical affinities suggest that the translator was primarily concerned with producing stylistic, understandable Greek rather than with conforming closely to the Hebrew source text. The translator was probably Jewish, particularly since some readings resonate with Jewish exegetical traditions. The relatively polished Greek suggests that the translator had received some formal Greek education, perhaps in a Hellenistic Jewish community. In the second part of this work Harper provides text, translation, and notes for the major Greek versions. The Barberini version has been analysed in particular detail, with regard to lexical and syntactical translation technique, as well as matters of style.
