From the radios used to broadcast prayer to the curative faith cloths circulated through the postal system, material objects known as spirit-matter have become essential since the 1940s, Blanton argues, to the Pentecostal community's understanding and performances of faith. Hittin' the Prayer Bones draws on Blanton's extensive site visits with church congregations, radio preachers and their listeners inside and outside the broadcasting studios, and more than thirty years of recorded charismatic worship made available to him by a small Christian radio station. In documenting the transformation and consecration of everyday objects through performances of communal worship, healing prayer, and chanted preaching, Blanton frames his ethnographic research in the historiography of faith healing and prayer, as well as theoretical models of materiality and transcendence. Ken Blanton has written several books and published six total to date.
Three of the works are children's books and three are novels. This book is the second book of the three book series of Luger Remington - Private Investigator.
Ken is originally from Ohio and now lives on a farm around Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he decided to reside after traveling around the USA working on heavy construction projects. He is an artist as well and designs his book cover artwork for each publication. He attended several colleges and has been involved in creative works most of his life.
The book is the second of the three-book series about the adventures of a boy named Glibb Redundant. This adventure is where he meets two boys his age that are brothers. Their family recently moved into a new subdivision that Glibb did not know was being built not far from his family farm. The new friends go fishing with Glibb and his dad in the pond located on the farm. The brothers get Glibb to try to smoke a cigarette as they are, and it does not turn out very well. Glibb is a positive influence for his new friends.
