Описание:
A Brexit novelette.
Just before she goes out, Gosia takes down Worst Case Scenario Survival Tips. It was a gift from an old colleague, and they're all having a reunion drink tonight. She'll bring it with her. They can have a laugh about it. Or something. The book offers advice on how to jump from a bridge into a river. How to wrestle with an alligator or escape a rabid wolf. How to escape underwater bondage or quicksand. How to fend off a shark. Hit it in the eyes Philippe had written: "To a beautiful future for us all "

Описание: Effie Latimer, protagonist of The Haunting of Walter Rabinowitz, is on a quest, a heroine's journey. The difficulty is, there are few prototypes. Dragon-slayers, explorers who are challenged to follow the wisdom of the heart, are rarely female. (Yes, there's Joan of Arc, but look what they did to her.) The novel, a story of obsessive love, is set in the late '80s; it is a sometimes humorous psychological study of a woman in the throes of loss, a woman who listens to her heart but forgets to heed her head. (Nonetheless, when it comes to matters of the heart, millions of women will relate.) Effie returns to college to pursue another post-grad degree and is wooed by a professor, an age-old tale, though when the man in question dumps her, as he has many other coeds, Effie decides to exact revenge, not in a malicious way, though one certainly troubling to her mentor.
Matilda Rabinowitz’s illustrated memoir challenges assumptions about the lives of early twentieth-century women. In Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman, Rabinowitz describes the ways in which she and her contemporaries rejected the intellectual and social restrictions imposed on women as they sought political and economic equality in the first half of the twentieth century. Rabinowitz devoted her labor and commitment to the notion that women should feel entitled to independence, equal rights, equal pay, and sexual and personal autonomy.
Rabinowitz (1887–1963) immigrated to the United States from Ukraine at the age of thirteen. Radicalized by her experience in sweatshops, she became an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World from 1912 to 1917 before choosing single motherhood in 1918. "Big Bill" Haywood once wrote, "a book could be written about Matilda," but her memoir was intended as a private story for her grandchildren, Robbin L?g?re Henderson among them. Henderson’s black-and white-scratchboard drawings illustrate Rabinowitz’s life in the Pale of Settlement, the journey to America, political awakening and work as an organizer for the IWW, a turbulent romance, and her struggle to support herself and her child.
Описание: If you have even spent a significant amount of time with any kids between the ages of 2 and 13, you know that their thoughts are markedly different than adults. Their honesty and insight is still unvarnished and unfiltered - and oftentimes hilarious. For over 30 years, Dr. Jay Rabinowitz, a respected pediatrician based in Parker, Colorado, has been on the receiving end of some of the funniest and most fascinating thoughts shared by his young patients. Many were so hilarious that he started to write them down, as well as send them to his patient's families in emails and newsletters. The response was so great that he decided to publish this book of some of his favorite patient interactions. Parents, family, teachers, or anyone who just likes a good laugh will love Cute Kidbits.

Описание: Osmos Magazine is "an art magazine about the use and abuse of photography," explains founder and editor Cay Sophie Rabinowitz (formerly of Parkett and Fantom). The magazine is divided into thematic sections--some traditional, such as "Portfolio," "Stories" and "Reportage"-- and others more idiosyncratic, such as "Eye of the Beholder," where gallerists discuss the talents they showcase; and "Means to an End," on the side effects of non-artistic image production. This issue features Sarah Meister on Jan Groover, Helga Pakasaar on the Uno Langmann Family Collection's photographic archive of turn-of-the-century British Columbia, AA Bronson, Josef Bauer, Janice Guy, Honza Zamojski, Eva Kot'atkova, Brian DePinto, and Anna & Bernhardt Blume, all enclosed in Alex Welsh's poignant cover, depicting residents of Fergusson, MO.
