Описание: In this dictionary characters are grouped into series of characters, which enables the user to find characters in a more intuitive way than is possible with standard dictionaries. Each character series is headed by a series header, which is usually the phonetic part of the characters in a series. Series are in their turn grouped into character tables (CTs), and each CT is headed by the component that is present in all characters and series header in the CT. This arrangement has several advantages: 1. It is easier to find a character, because users will quickly get used to thinking in terms of series. Locating a series is much easier than locating individual characters, because while there are more than 5,700 characters in this dictionary, they are divided over 1500+ series, grouped into 357 CTs. This arrangement makes it easier to locate them. Besides, once a user has located a series, the next time when he or she is looking for a character that is a member of the same series, it will be much easier to find it. 2. It helps to remember characters, because when looking up a new character, you can review other characters in the same series that you have studied before. 3. It helps to remember the sound of characters, because the sound of a character is often the same as that of other characters in the same series. 4. It helps to remember the meaning of characters, as each parent/phonetic is provided with a short etymology, explaining its historical background. Since late 2021 the second, completely revised edition has become available for both versions of the CCD. The main differences with the first edition are: * more than 90% of the HSK-6 vocabulary has been integrated, this includes HSK-1 to HSK-5. * all example words and phrases have pinyin romanizations added to them.
Common patterns of interactions are altered in the digital world and new patterns of communication have emerged, challenging previous notions of what communication actually is in the contemporary age. Online configurations of interaction, such as video chats, blogging, and social networking practices demand profound rethinking of the categories of linguistic analysis, given the blurring of traditional distinctions between oral and written discourse in digital texts. This volume reconsiders underlying linguistic and semiotic frameworks of analysis of spoken and written discourse in the light of the new paradigms of online communication, in keeping with a multimodal corpus linguistics theoretical framework.
Typical modes of online interaction encompass speech, writing, gesture, movement, gaze, and social distance. This is nothing new, but here Sindoni asserts that all these modes are integrated in unprecedented ways, enacting new interactional patterns and new systems of interpretation among web users. These "non verbal" modes have been sidelined by mainstream linguistics, whereas accounting for the complexity of new genres and making sense of their educational impact is high on this volume's agenda. Sindoni analyzes other new phenomena, ranging from the intimate sphere (i.e. video chats, personal blogs or journals on social networking websites) to the public arena (i.e. global-scale transmission of information and knowledge in public blogs or media-sharing communities), shedding light on the rapidly changing global web scenario.

For decades, the focus of Metaphor Studies laid on Conceptual Metaphor and its role in the human conceptual system. This study, however, focuses on metaphor in communication. Its aim is to shed light on how commenters in online debates discuss EU-related topics via Scenario Negotiation, expressing and negotiating their points of view via Metaphorical Scenarios. The study offers a review of current metaphor theory and practical approaches and proposes an Integrated Model of Scenario Negotiation. The results are based on context-sensitive, qualitative analysis of data which stem from a corpus of online debates from the Guardian’s Comment is free section. The discussion illustrates the genre-specific conceptual-communicative functions of Scenario Negotiation in naturally occurring discourse.
