Описание: This volume presents an interdisciplinary study in atomic, molecular, and quantum information (QI) science. Applications of the tools developed in QI provide new physical insights into electron optics and atom properties.
Описание: This thesis focuses on the study and characterization of entanglement and nonlocal correlations constrained under symmetries. It includes original results as well as detailed methods and explanations for a number of different threads of research: positive partial transpose (PPT) entanglement in the symmetric states; a novel, experimentally friendly method to detect nonlocal correlations in many-body systems; the non-equivalence between entanglement and nonlocality; and elemental monogamies of correlations. Entanglement and nonlocal correlations constitute two fundamental resources for quantum information processing, as they allow novel tasks that are otherwise impossible in a classical scenario. However, their elusive characterization is still a central problem in quantum information theory. The main reason why such a fundamental issue remains a formidable challenge lies in the exponential growth in complexity of the Hilbert space as well as the space of multipartite correlations. Physical systems of interest, on the other hand, display symmetries that can be exploited to reduce this complexity, opening the possibility that some of these questions become tractable for such systems.

Описание: Quantum correlations are not restricted to the well known entanglement investigated in Bell-type experiments. After giving a general introduction to the concept of quantum correlations and their role in quantum information theory, the author describes a number of pertinent results and their implications.

Описание: The second edition of a book that has become a standard reference for researchers working on geometric aspects of quantum entanglement and quantum theory of information. Its comprehensive style makes it suitable for students of physics, information science, and mathematics wishing to learn more about quantum mechanics and quantum entanglement.
This book provides an interdisciplinary perspective on one of the most fascinating and important open questions in science: What is quantum mechanics talking about? Quantum theory is perhaps our best confirmed physical theory. However, despite its great empirical effectiveness and the subsequent technological developments that it gave rise to in the 20th century, from the interpretation of the periodic table of elements to CD players, holograms and quantum state teleportation, it stands even today without a universally accepted interpretation. The novelty of the book comes from the multiple viewpoints and subjects investigated by a group of researchers from Europe and North and South America.
Описание: Presents a collection of articles on the contemporary status of quantum mechanics, focusing on the fundamental issues of entanglement, decoherence, irreversibility, information processing, and control of quantum evolution, with a view of possible applications.

Описание: This book presents a distinctive way of understanding quantum correlations beyond entanglement, introducing readers to this less explored yet very fundamental aspect of quantum theory.
Описание: As a continuation of classical condensed matter physics texts, this graduate textbook introduces advanced topics of correlated electron systems, mesoscopic transport,quantum computing, optical excitations and topological insulators. The book is focusing on an intuitive understanding of the basic concepts of these rather complex subjects.
Is it possible for two objects to be in two places at once? Can cause and effect happen in reverse? Is time travel possible?
Believe it or not, it is possible: welcome to the Quantum World
Unlike other arguments, however, the real difficulty is not in understanding, but in accepting something completely senseless, precisely in the right meaning of the term: not sensible, that is, contrary to the perception of our senses. You will notice that quantum mechanics is much "easier" than the theory of relativity.
In fact, you could get a child to help you digest certain concepts. The great difficulty does not lie in their complexity, but their absurdity in terms of logic acquired after many years of existence in a world that constantly follows certain rules. The more the brain is free of preconceptions and ingrained notions, the better it is.
You will learn:
What is interference;
The Double-Slit Experiment;
Quantum wave function;
Feynman's works;
The relation between waves and particles;
The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle;
How particles can be in multiple places at once;
Quantum entanglement;
The Schr dinger's cat thought experiment;
The Copenhagen interpretation and need for an observer;
...and much more
Quantum Physics is at the basis of all the technological innovations of today, from atomic energy to computer microelectronics, from digital clocks to lasers, semiconductor systems, photoelectric cells, diagnostic and treatment equipment for many diseases. In short, today we can live in a "modern" way thanks to Quantum Physics and its applications.
This comprehensive beginner's guide to quantum mechanics explains the most important and stunning quantum experiments that show quantum physics is real.
Are you ready? Let's dive deep into the fascinating science of Quantum Physics.
Описание: This book studies the fundamental aspects of many-body physics in quantum systems open to an external world. Recent remarkable developments in the observation and manipulation of quantum matter at the single-quantum level point to a new research area of open many-body systems, where interactions with an external observer and the environment play a major role.The first part of the book elucidates the influence of measurement backaction from an external observer, revealing new types of quantum critical phenomena and out-of-equilibrium dynamics beyond the conventional paradigm of closed systems. In turn, the second part develops a powerful theoretical approach to study the in- and out-of-equilibrium physics of an open quantum system strongly correlated with an external environment, where the entanglement between the system and the environment plays an essential role. The results obtained here offer essential theoretical results for understanding the many-body physics of quantum systems open to an external world, and can be applied to experimental systems in atomic, molecular and optical physics, quantum information science and condensed matter physics.

Описание: However, when it comes to the exploitation of such correlations in the quantum world, identification of the associated `resource` is extremely challenging and a matter of debate in the quantum community.This dissertation describes three key results on the identification, detection, and quantification of quantum correlations.
