Offering an interdisciplinary, big-picture view of the current and future state of nanotechnology, this book:
Identifies key points for the entry of nanoproducts, nanomedicines, and other nanoscale structures into the body
Reviews the bodily administration and subsequent disposition of nanoproducts via various exposure routes
Describes the intravenous route of administration for the therapeutic management of ocular disease
Discusses practical nanoproduct and nanomedicine applications, disposition, and toxicology
Summarizes various toxicological principles and the testing of nanoproducts
Nanomedicines and Nanoproducts: Applications, Disposition, and Toxicology in the Human Body addresses the scope of practical nanoparticle applications in academic research as well as industrial investigation, where "practical" is defined as advantageous in all aspects of nanoproduct disposition, efficacy, and toxicology. The book's goal is to introduce potentially beneficial applications and exciting topics regarding nanoproducts to a variety of professional and general readers.

Описание: The general characteristics of neuropeptides are discussed as a background for the understanding of their role in regulation of physiological systems. The extent of those systems that are crucially affected by neuropeptides is vast and the complexity of their interactions makes the clinical focus on a specific neu- ropeptide unsatisfactory. The clinical potential of neuropeptides affecting eating disorders, eNS behavioral disorders and the neuroregenerative and neuroprotective action of neuropeptides is discussed. It is probable that suc- cessful neuropeptide therapeutics will depend upon the application of trans- lational and combinational research using various ingenious combinations and antagonists, neuropeptide receptor ago- of neuropeptides, their agonists nists and antagonists, improved methods of delivery and the development of peptides targeted to the genetic profile of individual patients. Описание: PCBs have captured the attention of scientists, journalists and the public for three decades, but during most of that time attention was focused on a small number of the 209 possible chlorobiphenyls.
Описание: This book provides with a comprehensive overview of the role of drug transporters in drug disposition and efficacy/toxicity, as well as drug-drug interactions and recent advances in the field. Transporters are known determinants of drug disposition and efficacy/toxicity. In general, they are divided into solute carrier (SLC) and ATP binding cassette (ABC) families, and are located along cell membranes, where they mediate drug uptake into cells and export out of cells. Drug transporters are essential in maintaining cell homeostasis, and their gene mutations may cause or contribute to severe human genetic disorders, such as cystic fibrosis, neurological disease, retinal degeneration, anemia, and cholesterol and bile transport defects. Conversely, some diseases may also alter transporter functions and expressions, in turn aggravating disease process. Further, since over-expression of some ABC transporters is a potential contributor to multidrug-resistance (MDR), the book presents a number of strategies to overcome MDR, including ABC transporter inhibitors and applying epigenetic methods to modulate transporter expressions and functions. This book is useful for graduate students and professionals who are looking to refresh or expand their knowledge of this exciting field.
