Featuring more than 1,300 expertly drawn illustrations and images, the Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Surgery book is the comprehensive, highly anticipated follow-up to the original work on Principles of Internal Fixation of the Craniomaxillofacial Skeleton that was published in 2012.
With detailed contributions from more than 80 renowned international authors, Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Surgery significantly builds on the solid foundation laid by the previous textbook. The new book comprises sophisticated techniques in skeletal and soft-tissue analysis for the disciplines of craniomaxillofacial, trauma, tumor, orthognathic surgery, as well as facial and esthetic surgery.
The focused expertise of seven disciplines is synthesized together to offer comprehensive and unique interdisciplinary perspectives, necessary to create the "team" approach fundamental to achieving the progress required and expected in high-level medical centers: oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery, and head and neck surgery. Nowhere else has there been such a thorough and comprehensive multispecialty approach presented in the head and neck region.
The advent of microvascular surgery, skeletal analysis, computerized surgical planning, personalized implant creation, and comprehensive radiographic analysis have given rise to new principles, techniques and possibilities, which are explored extensively in this new textbook. Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Surgery should be part of every surgeon's library.

Описание: What did violence against women and children mean for ancient audiences and how do modern audiences hear and process the meaning of violence in the texts of the Hebrew Bible? The rape of Tamar, the sacrifice of Jephthah’s daughter, babes ripped from the womb during war—texts such as these are hardly fodder for Sunday School classes; yet we are left with the reality that the Bible is a violent text full of war, murder, genocide, and destruction, often carried out at the behest of God. The essays in this volume explore ways in which the Hebrew Bible uses and abuses women and children to make indelible points concerning the people of Israel, the lived realities of the Israelite society, and God’s relationship to His people. Where other works turn to the study of the violence itself, or to the divine nature of violence, this volume focuses in on the human component. As a result, these studies are reminders that women and children born out of trauma are at once vulnerable and valuable, fragile and resilient.
Dr. Christy Sim works diligently to serve the needs of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. On any given Sunday morning, a pastor can look over the 100 members of the congregation and see 25 women and 14 men who have been crippled by domestic violence and trauma--no matter the race or socio-economic group. The church is more than a hospital for sinners, it is also an emergency room for those who have been sinned against. But emergency rooms are not the place for long-term care. More is needed.
Written especially for Christian mental health professionals and students, counselors, therapists, psychologists, and pastors, the author lays out a framework and shows why issues related to violence and abuse continue to plague our society. The goal of care is not merely to help victims survive but move on to healing and wholeness. Beginning with the neurobiology of trauma, this practical guide outlines three modes of biological reaction and introduces specific ways healing can occur. Then Sim addresses the importance of self-care and vicarious trauma, including behavioral signs and symptoms. The book throws into high relief how community partners, including churches, can help. Lastly, the book addresses standards of care, confidentiality, and other resources.

Описание:
During the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth, insurgencies erupted in imperial states and colonies around the world, including Britain’s. As Nicole Rizzuto shows, the writings of Ukrainian-born Joseph Conrad, Anglo-Irish Rebecca West, Jamaicans H. G. de Lisser and V. S. Reid, and Kenyan Ng gi wa Thiong’o testify to contested events in colonial modernity in ways that question premises underlying approaches in trauma and memory studies and invite us to reassess divisions and classifications in literary studies that generate such categories as modernist, colonial, postcolonial, national, and world literatures. Departing from tenets of modernist studies and from methods in the field of trauma and memory studies, Rizzuto contends that acute as well as chronic disruptions to imperial and national power and the legal and extra-legal responses they inspired shape the formal practices of literatures from the modernist, colonial, and postcolonial periods.
