Feminist Translation Studies: Local and Transnational Perspectives situates feminist translation as political activism. Chapters highlight the multiple agendas and visions of feminist translation and the different political voices and cultural heritages through which it speaks across times and places, addressing the question of how both literary and nonliterary discourses migrate and contribute to local and transnational processes of feminist knowledge building and political activism. In so doing, the collection expands the geopolitical, sociocultural and historical scope of the field from different disciplinary perspectives, pointing towards a more transnational, interdisciplinary and overtly political conceptualization of translation studies.

Critical Pedagogy and Emancipation: A Festschrift in Memory of Joyce Canaan offers its readers a powerful vision of how radical educational praxis based on genuine dialogue and solidarity can «humanise» both learners’ and teachers’ experience of education and invigorate revolutionary and socialist democratic politics of the Left. The book is written as a celebration of the legacy of Professor Joyce Canaan (1950–2018), a radical intellectual and feminist. The contributors take her project of critical pedagogical scholar-activism as their common point of departure, developing themes – drawing in particular on public sociology, social movement and popular education, as well as critical pedagogy – around critiques of the neoliberal university, popular and working-class educational movements, feminism, anti-racism, climate justice, critical theory and politically engaged teaching, learning and research.
The idea of «wellbeing» is increasingly prevalent in global policy contexts. Yet, as the chapters in this collection demonstrate, any understanding of wellbeing is contextual: what wellbeing is depends on where and how we listen and speak, the concepts at our disposal, the humans and nonhumans with whom we engage, and the focus of their, and our, aspirations. Many of the chapters in this collection reflect the context of Aotearoa New Zealand, which, in 2019, introduced a wellbeing approach to public policy that attracted the attention of global policy makers and other stakeholders. In this collection, commentators both from within and beyond Aotearoa take an expansive stance in discussing the concept of wellbeing and its myriad possibilities.
