Von diesem Werk existieren ca. 500 Bruchst cke, die teils in Handschriften, teils auf Papyri berliefert sind. Im erhaltenen Teil werden die Ereignisse des Zeitraums von 78-67 v. Chr. beschrieben, eine Abfolge innenpolitischer Krisen, die letztlich zum Untergang der Republik und zur Etablierung des Prinzipats unter Augustus f hrten: Dazu geh ren die Aufst nde des Konsuls Lepidus in Italien und des Sertorius in Spanien sowie der noch ber hmtere Sklavenaufstand unter der F hrung des Spartacus.
