Описание:
Unconventional reservoirs have gained a permanent position in the oil and gas industry, but petroleum engineers still rely on conventional resources and make assumptions. Unconventional Reservoir Engineering Series was created to bring a powerful suite of volumes for today's engineer, with each volume devoted to a specific unconventional resource. Each volume is structured to:
Introduce the resource
Explain the importance in the market
Show the benefits of the resource through latest research
Provide details/protocol how to evaluate and develop the resource
Give case studies and practice questions to gain practicality
The first volume in the series, Tight Oil Reservoirs, delivers a full spectrum of reservoir engineering guidelines so that the engineer can focus on every stage of development specific to tight oil. Covering characterization, micro- and nano-scale modeling, drilling horizontally, completing hydraulic fracturing, and field development, each section includes case studies, practice exercises, and future references for even deeper understanding. Rounding out with coverage on field economics and remaining challenges, Unconventional Reservoir Engineering Series Volume I: Tight Oil Reservoirs puts control in the engineer's hands who are ready to truly learn more about optimizing unconventional resources.

Описание:
Data-Driven Reservoir Modeling introduces new technology and protocols (intelligent systems) that teach the reader how to apply data analytics to solve real-world, reservoir engineering problems. The book describes how to utilize machine-learning-based algorithmic protocols to reduce large quantities of difficult-to-understand data down to actionable, tractable quantities. Through data manipulation via artificial intelligence, the user learns how to exploit imprecision and uncertainty to achieve tractable, robust, low-cost, effective, actionable solutions to challenges facing upstream technologists in the petroleum industry.
Data-Driven Reservoir Modeling is intended to introduce a technology that is relatively new to petroleum engineers and geoscientists whose day-to-day job responsibilities always bring them to junctures where critical technical decisions need to be made and strategies need to be established. The technology covered in this book adds another decision-making tool to the arsenal of upstream technologists of the petroleum industry. This book should also be useful to petroleum engineering and geosciences undergraduate students in their junior or senior year, as well as to graduate students
with some degree of exposure to the principles of petroleum engineering field operations, petroleum geology, and petroleum geophysics.
The aim of this book is to present a methodology that is rather new to the petroleum engineering community and is particularly suited to the application of data analytics to physical problems of reservoir engineering for tracking the state of dynamics with the goal of strengthening the decision-making process. With the help of the pragmatic approach provided in this book, data-driven modeling can be effectively used in field planning and development studies.

Описание:
Reservoir Simulation: Machine Learning and Modeling helps the engineer step into the current and most popular advances in reservoir simulation, learning from current experiments and speeding up potential collaboration opportunities in research and technology. This reference explains common terminology, concepts, and equations through multiple figures and rigorous derivations, better preparing the engineer for the next step forward in a modeling project and avoid repeating existing progress. Well-designed exercises, case studies and numerical examples give the engineer a faster start on advancing their own cases. Both computational methods and engineering cases are explained, bridging the opportunities between computational science and petroleum engineering. This book delivers a critical reference for today's petroleum and reservoir engineer to optimize more complex developments.
Описание: Good engineers never stop looking for opportunities to improve the performance of their production systems. Performance enhancement methods are always carefully examined, and production data is analyzed in order to identify determining factors affecting performance. The two main activities of the production engineer in the petroleum and related industries are reservoir stimulation and artificial lift. The classic solution to maximizing a well's productivity is to stimulate it. The basis for selecting stimulation candidates should be a review of the well's actual and theoretical IPR. Low permeability wells often need fracturing on initial completion. In low permeability zones, additional post stimulation production can be significant to the economics, however, the production engineer needs to make management aware of the true long term potential or else overly optimistic projections can easily be made. The main purpose of stimulation is to enhance the property value by the faster delivery of the petroleum fluid and/or to increase ultimate economic recovery. The aim of reservoir stimulation is to bypass near-wellbore damage and return a well to its “natural” productivity / injectivity, to extend a conductive path deep into a formation and thus increase productivity beyond the natural level and to produce hydrocarbon from tight formation. The importance of reservoir stimulation is increasing due to following reasons: Hydrocarbon fields in their mid-life Production in these fields are in declining trend The thrust area: Enhancement of production Hence, to improve productivity of the well matrix stimulation and hydraulic fracturing are intended to remedy, or even improve, the natural connection of the wellbore with the reservoir, which could delay the need for artificial lift. This book presents procedures taken in the Oil & Gas Industry for identifying well problems, and it suggests means of solving problems with the help of the Coil Tube unit which is used for improving well productivity and techniques like Acidizing and Hydraulic Fracturing.

Описание: "This book is fast becoming the standard text in its field," wrote a reviewer in the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology soon after the first appearance of Dake's book. This prediction quickly came true: it has become the standard text and has been reprinted many times. The author's aim - to provide students and teachers with a coherent account of the basic physics of reservoir engineering - has been most successfully achieved. No prior knowledge of reservoir engineering is necessary. The material is dealt with in a concise, unified and applied manner, and only the simplest and most straightforward mathematical techniques are used. This low-priced paperback edition will continue to be an invaluable teaching aid for years to come.
