The first half examines the present death of the church. The second half examines the possibility of resurrection for the church. Other essays explore the composer George Russell’s Lydian Chromatic Concept as a critique of mid-twentieth-century discourses of embodiment, madness, and black masculinity; performances of “female hysteria” by Les Diaboliques, a feminist improvising trio; and the BBC radio broadcasts of Ivy Benson and Her Ladies’ Dance Orchestra during the Second World War. writing instructor at Indian Hills Community College.
His honors and awards also include Pushcart Prize Nominee

of the Literary Arts, 2007, 2008; and finalist, New England
