Chen, Asia ASML, Taiwan. "Detection of Single Traps and Characterization of Individual Traps: Beginning of Atomistic Reliability Physics" by Prof. Toshiaki Tsuchiya, Shimane University, Japan. "The Art and Science of Packaging High-Coupling Photonics Devices and Modules", by Prof. Wood-Hi Cheng, National Chung-Hsing University, Taiwan. "Prospect and Outlook of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection in Emerging Technologies", by Prof. Juin J. Liou, University of Central Florida, USA. After a rigorous review process, the ISNE 2015 technical program committee has selected 10 outstanding presentations and invited the authors to prepare extended chapters for inclusion in this edited book. Of the 10 chapters, five are focused on the subject of electronic devices, and the other covers the circuit designs for various applications. The authors are working at the academia in Austria, United States, Korea, and Taiwan. Описание: Breaking through the long-established image of Heian Japan (794-1185) as a culture dominated by ritualized aristocratic values, Yung-Hee Kim presents a picture of a country in transition, filled with a wide variety of common people responding to very ordinary situations. The court does not disappear, but rather becomes part of a larger society inhabited by Buddhist nuns and mountain ascetics, farmers and fishermen, beggars and gamblers. In popular songs called imayo, they express their concerns about religion, love, aging, and even current affairs. In 1179 Emperor Go-Shirakawa compiled a collection of this song genre, which had flourished for two centuries. His twenty-volume anthology, Ryojin hisho, circulated until the middle of the fourteenth century, when it disappeared completely. To the astonishment of the scholarly world, two volumes reappeared early in the twentieth century. It is these texts--a small remnant of a powerful popular literature--that Kim makes accessible to English-speaking readers. Ryojin hisho juxtaposes the sacred with the profane, the high with the low, the male with the female, the old with the new. The songs, in translations that faithfully reflect the sounds and images of the originals, make up the core of this book. They are surrounded by a wealth of material on the imayo genre, the women who sang the songs, the role of court patronage, and other aspects of Heian culture. Far from simply surviving as an aesthetic artifact, the anthology comes to life in its own literary and cultural context. Описание: Korean and Korean American Life Writing in Hawai'i examines such self-representing genres as lyric poems, oral history, autobiography, and memoirs written by Korean and Korean Americans from the early twentieth century to the present, in order to explore how these people have shaped their individual or collective identities. Their representations, produced in different periods by successive generations, reveal how Koreans in their diaspora to Hawai'i came to terms with their ethnic and local selves, and also how the sense of who and what they are changed over the years, both within and beyond the initial generation. Looking into their individual and collective identities in lyric poems, oral history, autobiography, and memoirs reveals how the earliest arrivals, their children, and their grandchildren have come to terms with their national, ethnic, and local selves, and how their sense of identity changes over the course of time, both within and beyond the initial generation. In the lyric poems found in Korean-language periodicals of the native-born generation, we can trace the significance of the motherland and Hawai'i for these writers' sense of identity. The oral histories of first-generation women, most of whom arrived as picture brides, also represent another "us" often vulnerable Koreans who define themselves in relation to both the present culture and to Korean men. The self developed by the second-, third-, and in-between-generation Koreans diversifies because their identity is not defined exclusively by their ancestral land, extending to Hawai'i and to America. This study focuses on three main areas of emphasis: Hawai'i; Korean language and culture; and life writing. By tracing how identity changes with each generation, this study reveals how identity formation for Hawai'i diasporic Koreans has evolved.
