Описание: Students today have access to an unprecedented amount of information. Drawing on research and theory from three fields-learning theory, instructional systems design, information studies-this book explores ways of learning in a world brimming with information.
Описание: At that time, information systems handled repetitive and remote back-office functions and the main concern was work task design for repetitive input tasks and the potential impact of improved information support on organizational decision-making and structure.

Описание: This volume is a commemorative book celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Learning Environments of the American Educational Researchers' Association. It includes a historical perspective starting with the formation of the SIG in 1984 and the first program space at the AERA annual meeting in 1985 in Chicago. This retrospective notes other landmarks in the development of the SIG such as the creation of the international journal Learning Environments Research. The study of learning environments was first conceptualized around the need to develop perceptual and psychosocial measures for describing students' individual or shared educational experiences (eg. 'feel of the class' or 'classroom climate'). Over the ensuing decades, the field expanded considerably from its early roots in science education to describe other phenomenon such as teacher-student interpersonal relationships, or applications in pre-service teacher education and action research. The book also describes several new areas of promise for the expanding field of learning environments research that in the future will include more diverse contexts and applications. These will include new contexts but established research programs in areas such as information and communications technology and environmental education, but also in emerging research contexts such as the physical classroom environment and links among learning environment contexts and students' emotional health and well-being. Contributors are: Perry den Brok, Rosie Dhaliwhal, Barry J. Fraser, Catherine Martin-Dunlop, David Henderson, Melissa Loh, Tim Mainhardt, George Sirrakos, Alisa Stanton, Theo Wubbels, and David B. Zandvliet.

Описание:
Transliteracy in Complex Information Environments considers this relatively new concept, which has attracted a great deal of interest in the library anda information field, particularly among practitioners. The notion of transliteracy arises in the context of increasingly complex information and communication environments characterised by multimodality and new roles of creators and consumers. Transliteracy concerns the ability to apply and transfer a range of skills and contextual insights to a variety of settings. Rather than focusing on any one skillset or technology, transliteracy is about fluidity of movement across a range of contexts. This book is concerned with processes of learning and knowledge creation. An understanding of transliteracy emergesfrom research data gathered in university and high school settings. Transliteracy is considered in relation to other literacies as an overarching framework. Applications in education and lifelong learning are discussed. Social aspects of transliteracy are considered in relation to academic cultures and broader social trends, particularly hybrid cultures
Provides an overarching model of transliteracy based on the well-established information literacy
Relates to a number of professional and academic fields, such as library and information, education, communication, media, and cultural studies
Integrates both professional and academic perspectives

Описание: Comprehensive internationalization is a strategic process that seeks to align initiatives for globally-oriented and internationally-connected programs that is essential for the attainment of global competitiveness and qualification recognition. Internationalization of higher education has been in broad debate among professionals, and procedures and processes towards desired quality of library and information science (LIS) academic standards are still a continuing discussion among stakeholders.
Internationalization of Library and Information Science Education in the Asia-Pacific Region is a critical scholarly resource that examines the internationalization of LIS education to promote, develop, and facilitate engagement and mobility of library professionals around the world with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. This book can open doors for greater global engagement and cooperation among LIS schools and professional governing bodies in countries that can mutually benefit and propel development to be on par with European and North American counterparts. While highlighting various topics such as global engagement, curriculum design, and knowledge sharing, this book is ideal for academicians, library professionals, instructional designers, researchers, curriculum designers, librarians, educators, and students.
