Описание: This book reports on the German research initiative AeroStruct, a three-year collaborative project between universities and the aircraft industry. It describes the development of an integrated multidisciplinary simulation environment for aircraft analysis and optimization using high-fidelity methods. This system is able to run at a high level of automatism, thus representing a step forward with respect to previous ones. Its special features are: a CAD description that is independent from the disciplines involved, an automated CFD mesh generation and an automated structure model generation including a sizing process. The book also reports on test cases by both industrial partners and DLR demonstrating the advantages of the new environment and its suitability for the industry. These results were also discussed during the AeroStruct closing Symposium, which took place on 13-14 October 2015 at the DLR in Braunschweig, Germany. The book provides expert readers with a timely report on multidisciplinary aircraft design and optimization. Thanks to a good balance between theory and practice, it is expected to address an audience of both academics and professional, and to offer them new ideas for future research and development.
Yin Yoga, the follow-up to my book, The Key to Happiness, brings you everything you need to begin your journey down the physical and spiritual path of Yin yoga, and to experience the many benefits it has to offer.
While everyone has the ability to improve their lives, many people are lacking the knowledge and tools needed to begin. I was once one of these people, working as a detective with the police force. Overcome by stress, fear, and unrest, I turned to the yogic lifestyle, becoming a certified Experienced Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). After fifteen years of walking the path of the yogi on my spiritual quest, this is what I have discovered, and I would like to share with you this knowledge and the tools needed to accomplish your goal of a better life.
While you may be familiar with standard Yoga classes, Yin yoga is much more powerful and meditative. This process focuses on promoting a deep physical, spiritual, and mental awareness. Rather than just working the surface of your joints and muscles, you can work your deeper tissues. Your connective tissues and fascia are included in the poses as well. People often lose vital flexibility as they age, with stiffness in the fascia causing pain, which results in the muscles becoming overworked. Yin yoga helps to increase flexibility and overall health as you age, reducing the risk of injury.
By simply reading this book, you can gain the insight and understanding you need to start practicing Yin yoga today. At this point in your life, you may be the caterpillar that, with time and dedication, transforms into a butterfly through the power of the yogic lifestyle. All you have to do is begin.
In This Book You Will Find:
The history of yoga, and how it affects yoga today
The four key principles that define Yin yoga
How traditional Chinese medicine is deeply integrated into Yin yoga
The Meridian channels and five elements of Yin yoga
An in-depth scientific explanation of the benefits of Yin yoga
How to utilize the power of the breath
My Vipassana Approach to the practice
What is limiting your range of motion
How to master 19 Yin yoga poses and their variations (for a total of 51 asanas, including photos, as well as an extra section for shoulder and neck health)
And more...
If you are looking for wellness of mind and body, and you are ready to learn more about deepening your practice, my book, Yin Yoga, is for you. Don't waste another moment, BUY IT TODAY

Achieve life-changing results for your body--greater mobility, better functionality, enhanced performance, and less pain--in as little as 9 minutes a day.
In Better Stretching, Joe Yoon brings you the tips and techniques he gives world class athletes, and provides you with an entirely new way to think about stretching. You won't need 90 complicated minutes to get more agile--you'll just need 9 And your results will improve dramatically--and stay that way--when you incorporate just a touch of mobility and strengthening to your stretches. Joe Yoon shows you how.
Better Stretching debunks myths and misconceptions. You'll discover:
- Over 100 wide-ranging stretches, from static to dynamic, including simple stretches you can do while sitting at your desk - Three 30-day plans designed to give you maximum results in a minimum amount of time, each tailor-made for goals that you choose - Stretching, strengthening, and mobility exercises for people at every level - whether you're a beginner or advanced, a weekend warrior or a competitive athlete, a business executive or a new parent - Muscle-soothing self-massage techniques using simple foam rollers and tennis balls - Over 125 photographs of Joe demonstrating his stretches, so you achieve results beyond what you thought possible

Описание: Strategies for building large systems that can be easily adapted for new situations with only minor programming modifications. Time pressures encourage programmers to write code that works well for a narrow purpose, with no room to grow. But the best systems are evolvable; they can be adapted for new situations by adding code, rather than changing the existing code. The authors describe techniques they have found effective--over their combined 100-plus years of programming experience--that will help programmers avoid programming themselves into corners. The authors explore ways to enhance flexibility by: - Organizing systems using combinators to compose mix-and-match parts, ranging from small functions to whole arithmetics, with standardized interfaces - Augmenting data with independent annotation layers, such as units of measurement or provenance - Combining independent pieces of partial information using unification or propagation - Separating control structure from problem domain with domain models, rule systems and pattern matching, propagation, and dependency-directed backtracking - Extending the programming language, using dynamically extensible evaluators
Stretching is a fundamentally important part of sport and exercise, playing a role in improving performance, and preventing injury and rehabilitation, but its scientific underpinnings have, to this point, been overlooked in book publishing. The Science and Physiology of Flexibility and Stretching is the most up-to-date and comprehensive book to cover the underlying physiology and psychology of stretching, critically assessing why, when, and how we should stretch, as well as offering a highly illustrated, practical guide to stretching exercises.
Placing stretching in the context of both health and performance, the first section of the book sets out the science behind stretching, critically assessing the benefits, disadvantages, and roles of different types of stretching, exploring the mechanisms behind increasing range-of-movement through stretching and other methods, and offering evidence-based guidance on building stretching into warm-ups. In its second section, the book provides a step-by-step guide to static, dynamic, and PRF stretching exercises for beginners, through recreational athletes, to elite performers.
Richly illustrated, and including an online resource, The Science and Physiology of Flexibility and Stretching provides an important scientific enquiry into stretching, and an invaluable reference for any strength and conditioning coach or student, personal trainer, sports coach, or exercise scientist.
Описание: Cities are responsible for three-quarters of the world s energy consumption. If we are to reduce our demands on the planet s resources how can we make our urban areas more energy efficient? One way is to refit existing buildings with more thermally efficient building materials. But such retrofitting involves significant issues of social acceptance and public participation. Retrofitting the City provides an important corrective to the assumptions that have been made concerning the ability of people and places to cope with such residential transformation. Drawing upon case studies from a number of European cities that have undergone far-reaching change in their built environments, the author shows that supposedly inadaptable people and places show a strong, if often hidden, degree of flexibility in responding to economic change and building transformation."
