Описание: For many, literature and marketing are considered opposite phenomena. This book discusses cases in which the two are closely connected. It argues that literature is subject to the same mechanisms as other commercial products: our experience of literary texts is prefigured by brands, trademarks that identify a product and differentiate it from its competitors. From the early modern period onwards, literary authors and their texts are constantly ‘branded’ and have been both the object and the trailblazer of a complex marketing process. The authors of this volume analyze this branding process throughout the centuries, focusing on the Netherlands. This volume will provide a comprehensive yet accessible description of East Midlands English, an area of neglect in linguistic research. Existing publications, which aggregate the findings of earlier surveys and more recent localised studies presenting an overview of regional speech in the UK, are either lacking up-to-date research data from the East Midlands or simply ignore the region.
A coordinated survey of dialects of the East Midlands was part of the Survey of English Dialects (SED) in the 1950s. This data is now over sixty years old and focuses almost exclusively on broad rural dialect speakers. This book will fill the knowledge and literature gaps by comparing vernacular speech in different urban and rural locations in the East Midlands, and examining whether the East Midlands is a 'transition zone' between the North and South. Recordings held by the British Library will be used, and will be supplemented with recordings made with local speakers.
Language in the East Midlands is distinctive and there is considerable regional variety, for instance, between speech in the major urban centres of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. Bringing out this regional variation will also improve our wider understanding of language variation in English. The concept of the East Midlands in itself is not a clear one, and this volume aims to address such issues and to examine what makes the East Midlands an area of itself and what this area includes.

Описание: The "Veterans Choice Program" requires the VA to furnish hospital care and medical services through eligible non-VA health care providers to eligible veterans who either cannot be seen within the wait-time goals of the Veterans Health Administration or who qualify based on their place of residence or face an unusual or excessive burden in traveling to a VA medical facility as reported in chapters 1 and 2. Chapter 3 examines how officials at VHA facilities responded to adverse-action information received through National Practitioner Data Bank, how VHA facilities adhered to polices regarding providers with adverse actions, and steps VHA has recently taken to ensure that providers meet licensure requirements. Chapter 4 reviews the extent to which VA collects reliable information associated with employee misconduct and disciplinary actions, adheres to documentation-retention procedures when adjudicating cases of employee misconduct, ensures allegations of misconduct involving senior officials are reviewed according to VA investigative standards and these officials are held accountable, and has procedures to investigate whistle-blower allegations of misconduct; and the extent to which data and whistle-blower testimony indicate whether retaliation for disclosing misconduct occurs at VA.
